Included extra on the cd will be two live versions of Foot of the mountain, and Riding the Crest. On the dvd will be videos for all 3 singles, Foot of the mountain,Shadowside and Nothing Is keeping you here. I only wished they would have added the new versions of the singles to the cd since the singles are already out of print, but this re-issue was not done with any involvement from the band, just as an afterthought. yeah, they should have included them, Just to let you know the german cd singles (physical copies) of NIKYH and Foot & Shadowside are still available online. Amazon.de and ebay have quite a few cheap copies. [Edited 11/15/09 1:26am] Im interested to see if "BANDSTAND" becomes a single, its odd that both "Riding the crest" and "Bandstand" were being played all along and spoken of, and yet now do not look to be singles, especially at this point, though they seem to still be obligated to them album, its not a PRINCE situation where they are totally walking away from the album, they are touring it, its just strange the 2 songs that almost were writtten to be singles arent singles. Yeah, its very odd. I was sure that "Riding The Crest" was going to be single one or two, so to not be chosen at all is a bit of a shock.
I don't get what is going on in the bands head concerning "Nothing is keeping you here". Its clear there is a problem when they aren't doing it on the album tour....but I cant work out why! Its perfect for a live number. I'm convinced that something to do with the re-recording of the single caused an argument and split. Something trivial has opened up old feelings or maybe Mortets contempt for show business and going through the numbers. . | |

Something trivial has opened up old feelings or maybe Mortets contempt for show business and going through the numbers. Yeah something is odd about that. I think the hint is that Morten had no songwriting credit at all on this album which is odd, not that he was the writing force, its mostly been Mags and Paul even more, but there were times early on when it would be the three. I think there was a conscious effort to do this record like they used to record early on...as a band together just the three of them, i think there was a vibe that this could be the end or a new beginning from early interviews on this record, there was a hint of togetherness. When the news came out about ending the band, everyone assumed it had to be Paul, i dont think it really was one person making that call, i do think it was partly Morten's call, and i feel that maybe Mags was leaning this way too, and Paul might have just been the middle man, or it could have just been something trivial. But i do think its fortunate that they did regroup the first time, because the second round of a-Ha is what has set them apart from the other bands from that era in my eyes. Well said and I completely agree. Take the best tracks from this second round of music and u have one hell of a collection. Regarding the songwriting credits on Foot, it is strange that there are no morten tracks on there. Especially since he has only recently released a solo album, I believe the lack of support for his solo cd ( did the release get pulled in the uk because of Foot?) mixed with His lack of input on the a-ha cd has something to do with it allright. Looking at all 3 members solo output, I favor mortens. Never really got savoys sound and magnes songwritting is great but I find his albums a little weak. So morten probably has the hump.??! Im actually "a little bit" (great a-ha song) more for the mags work. Though i like Mortens last one, i havent stopped listening to "a dot of black in the blue of your bliss" . Savoy i was never crazy about, i have all their work, and i do like some stuff, but i just havent gotten into them for the most part, though Paul is an amazing writer. I always thought Mortens release was only for Norway? i didnt think it was even intended for the UK. It'll be interesting to see what the new year will bring when the "foot" tour is over and the "ending on high note" tour is planned out, my concern is them cutting way down for the USA, but then again im in NYC, and that is the only place in the USA they played for the "analogue" promotion and Paul does live here, so i feel fans in others will miss out. Morten's album had a UK release date, website, everything set up but it never got released, I remember at the time there was some talk about it being delayed for the new a-ha album, promotion wise it made sense for some reason. I saw him play some of it live at the Royal Albert Hall night, It was fantastic, so was magne actually. Savoy, I always found a bit cheesy and grating, even though I agree Paul's songwriting is at times amazing. You are in NYC?! Well done on being such a hardcore fan in the US, must be difficult getting material outside of europe?, well not so much these days I guess? "My God it's full of Stars"

Actually NYC is very fortunate ( and me too) to have great import shops, 2 that i have been going to for almost 20 years now, have always had things from a-ha and tons of others, new releases, cdsingles, vinyl etc...u name it. One is RECORD RUNNER and the other is REBEL REBEL. Its actually tougher now than it was then, the owners of these two stores tell me its really hard getting stuff from Germany, because its alot of $$ now more than then. But i have no issue with paying the money for the artists i want, and the quality of them. I just watched 15 minutes of the tour on You Tube and highlights from tracks, and i have seen Prince 76 times in concert and this show BLOWS all 76 away, i have never seen anything better and this is 15 minutes on frigging youtube from someones cheap ass camera. THE BANDSTAND totally kicks ass and NEEDS TO BE A SINGLE, and this isnt even the farewell tour!
