starts looking at the prices for a Blu Ray player The prices have come down quite a bit. Sears' Black Friday ad has one listed for $149. I think I will get one this Christmas season. I have a feeling that Best Buy, Walmart, and Target will all have Blu-Ray players really cheap. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

More people need eye-tests. I swear when they can't tell the difference, it's the only logical answer! LOL! Yeah... but maybe they got a Blu-Ray player and still have a crappy old TV... because then you won't see much difference! But then you could as well stay with the DVD player!

just saw it! Michael Joseph jackson was absolutely BRILLIANT! I looked at him today n while sitting there in amazement I told my sister that I really could not comprehend what it is about Mike that makes him so superior to the other dancers. The back up dancers were the best of the best, yet our 50 year old Michael outshone them everytime. But it's something you cant pinpoint. Its mindboggling to me. My sister said, 'its because MJ is so smooth'. Nobody moves like our guy. He really is the Greatest entertainer ever, imo. I have tickets for saturday and Im sure ill make 2 more days next week. I was not sad at all the entire time. He was alive up there n amazing. His voice , beautiful. Long Live the King.

The best thing about "This Is It" is that Michael would have been absolutely thrilled with the outcome. It is a fitting goodbye to a fantastic talent. I just saw it. It was great, I found some parts a little uneasy, where I believe you could see his frail and "un-MJ" style movements and dance gestures. But none of that matters, 2 minutes later a new clip would show him doing moves better than he was doing 15 years ago. His voice was great, really the highlight of the movie for me. As other orgers have noted, his intro to "speachless" was just that, awe inspiring. If you love MJ you will love it, if you don't see it and be converted. Just a damn tragedy though. But a great celebration at the same time. Highly recommended.

Sony Plans To Enter 'This Is It' in Oscar Race October 2009 Sony think its new Michael Jackson documentary could be a contender for best picture. Spokesman Steve Elzer says the studio will submit Michael Jackson's This Is It for Academy Awards consideration. The film was made from rehearsal footage recorded as Jackson prepared for a series of comeback concerts in London before his death in June. The film opened worldwide Wednesday and has already earned $20.1 million at the box office, along with praise from critics and fans. A spokeswoman for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences says that once the film completes a seven-day run, it will be eligible for consideration in sound and editing categories as well as best picture. http://www.usatoday.com/l...cars_N.htm [Edited 10/29/09 16:57pm]

9 minutes short of 2 hours That's why I would love to see a "Ultimate Edition" of it with MORE footage "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."

I received a holographic (lenticular) ticket last week from ticketmaster, they also included a copy of the memorial programme, which was a nice surprise. "My God it's full of Stars"

I saw THIS IS IT last night! The theater was 80% full. Every race and age was there. People screamed Michael's name, sang along to songs, danced and waved their hands in the air while Michael sang IJCSLY. It was MAGICAL in that theater.

With 720p and 1080p you may need a bigger picture to notice, but even on a small screen you should notice a distinct difference between 480 and 720p or 1080i/1080p. [Edited 10/29/09 18:07pm]

You have a ten foot screen with 1080p and you can't tell the difference? Schedule a trip to the eye doctor. Why the hell would anyone have that kind of equipment if they couldn't tell a difference?
Are you sure you're watching 1080p content? I've never heard of someone watching a 1080p video on a ten foot 1080p screen and not be able to tell the difference over SD content. [Edited 10/29/09 20:11pm]

Well, everyone else was suggesting it. So why not? If the internet is all hyping it up saying it's Oscar-worthy, then they may as well try. At best they'll win, at worst they won't.
I'm not saying it's Oscar worthy, but how can you blame them for tossing their name in the hat?

I think it could have been so much better. People keep saying its really only a movie for the fans, but I think people who arent really into Michael would enjoy it so much more. I know I would of if I was only learning about him, as I wouldnt be completely sick to death of the songs, the performances wouldnt of seemed samey, and I would be seeing a different side to Michaels personality. But any hardcore fan will know it really didnt show anything new or in depth about Michael. Thats why I wanted more behind the scenes footage. Stuff like when Michael had the long straight hair. Thats the footage I enjoyed the most. Him practicing dancing in a little room, picking the dancers etc. Just unrehearsed stuff.
