hmmm
How don't you have an iTunes library? hmm

Is this a hypothetical question? What 5000 songs would you download if you had spending money? ($5000 wow!)

you need to be more specific. what happened exactly?
because that happened to be once, and what had really happened was i move the iTunes library file and my computer couldn't find it. i took my computer to the Apple Store and they restored everything.

I don't get that either. If I lost my iPod, big deal, I'd just buy a new one and re-sync it to my computer which has my entire iTunes library on it.

an

Invest in a separate hard drive and store your itunes library on there so if your desktop/laptop crashes (as both mine have many times mad ) you can just reload everything back onto itunes.

As far as content shrug

nod There are some people who complain about iTunes sync, but I've always liked that it essentially forces you to have a backup of the music on your iPod.

I don't understand why people won't back up their files. It makes no sense at all.

Wait a minute. Are you telling me that you didn't have your iPod set to "manually update songs/videos" and you plugged it into a new laptop? why would you do that? that's not on the iPod, that's on YOU.

Even then iTunes asks if you really want to sync your iPod to the new library. And that if you do so you'll lose the songs on the iPod that are not in your new library.Anyway, let's not kick him when he's down.

Andy. Don't you have access to that old computer? Your songs should be there smile

Ah, your computer went down, not the iPod. I understand now. Maybe you should go to iTunes and Amazon and see what other albums people have bought that have bought the albums that you do remember owning.

Ok so what happened to the place where you store all your old files? Did you erase all the music off your old computer and try to start on a new one?

You should buy a External Hard Drive for next time.

when you put iTunes on a computer and plug an iPod into it, it'll ask you, before it does anything, if you want to synch your iPod to that computer. if there is nothing on there, then you click no. but as far as I can remember, an iPod can only be synched to one computer at a time.

so plug it back into your old computer where your library is and synch it up. then on the new computer's iTunes, change the setting to manual file management.

As long as you don't sync the iPod to the new computer, you can just copy the songs from the iPod to it. There are a boatload of utilities that do that.
