Funny you should mention "Open Sesame".I was watching the 'Saturday Night Fever' DVD the other day,and of course, the song "Open Sesame" is in the movie and on the soundtrack. It's one of their funkiest jams ever! I've never heard the entire 'OS' album, though.

whoa...blast from the past. I still have that album on some scratched up vinyl. Haven't listened to it in a while, I may just have to pull it out and reminisce... ______________________________________

Kool and the Gang were definitely fierce before JT Taylor (those commercial songs). Summer Madness, Funky Stuff, Jungle Boogie, Open Sesame, Light of the World, etc. were classics. James Brown was one of their biggest fans I read. I loved their signature jazz funk grooves. Live in London - Hollywood Swinging was kickin!!! Then those horrible songs, Celebrate, Joanna, uggghh! It's not surprising JB was one of their biggest fans; Kool & The Gang could sound eerily like James Brown's band during the 70s. They were fierce. I love that intro to "Jungle Boogie" and the whole song really. But when I hear the intro, even though I KNOW what's coming, it makes me think, WHOA! Something's coming! This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.
