I love the vocoder on funk, electro pop and dance music. Hip-hop now is at an electro pop style so when they do it like that, I like it but when they put autotune on a "grimy" track, it sounds tacky to me. But I really don't care, it's another form for them. Don't listen to it much tho.

shorttrini said: The problem that I have with it is the following.
1. Most of it has been "Dumb Down", to the point where it is almost insulting to the listener. 2. There is no originality in neither the rhymes or the music that they are using. 3. The death of Tupac and Biggie. 4. The fact that multimedia corporations (especially Clear Channel Communications) put all of their focus on the gangsta style of rap and totally forsake all the other hip-hop/rap sub-genres (political rap, hip-house, alternative rap, etc.) in the process. 5. On a mainstream level, hip-hop (like most of USA pop culture in the 21st century) has too much elements taken from Freemasonry, witchcraft, & the occult. [Edited 10/24/09 14:01pm]

Tony, you should do like me and say fuck the corporate world, biatch. I can't bitch about the current hip-hop because that'll be too snobbish of me, not saying you're a snob but it's just not cool criticizing especially when you don't like it anyway.

THAT^ is true. Damn right. Music was meant to entertain and since it's not doing it's job, we have to entertain ourselves some kind of way so bitch on people, bitch on! Hell, it's fun. And if it pisses people off in the process that actually like shit hop, well that's just another extra added little goodie. Andy is a four letter word.

We've already been there and had that feeling so pulling out the old records does the job for a little while but eventually we long for something new and since there's nothing new to fill that void, (and no I'm not going underground because that don't get me no dick) hell, bitch on. THAT^ is true. I can see where both you and Timmy are coming from, by not wanting to criticize. But, If we don't, then how are they,(the one's that are making an inferior product), going to know that what they are producing is bullshit!! There are some who believe in the theory, "Why say something, they are not going to listen anyway". I don't believe that, not for a millisecond. You think that I am gonna go out and support Drake with his contradicting, misogynistic ass, (singing about success, but at the same time telling these kids who are listening to it, that in order to be successful, you need the, "Money, cars and the Hoes", what's up with that?). Yeah, Biggie and Pac, sang about hoes too, but at least they lived what they sang about, to a degree...Drake never lived that life. But then again, I guess singing about that would be more interesting than him singing about his role on "Degrassi High" as a wannabe paraplegic... It gets the job done but you've already had it before so you already know what's behind the zipper. But there's nothing like getting some new dick for the first time and not knowing what's going to either flop or spring out from behind the zipper. Music is the same way. I'm always looking for a new thrill and lately the thrill is gone....the thrill has gone away....I said the thrill is gone baby....the thrilllll is gonnnnne away. Andy is a four letter word.

I love old school hip hop / rap music. I don't really care for the music out now for the fact that it's been "dumbed down". Only thing that usually gets the audience moving is the actual beat to the song. I'll take 90's hip hop/rap over this era
