I thought Snoop was good on the show.

He was a life-long fan, who grew up and got to work with Roger.

He brought sort of a fan's perspective to the show like he did Bootsy's.

Most shows like these have interviews with The Artists, The Artists Family, Label Execs, & Journalists.

Damn this was so sad!!! bawl Seems no one had no idea what would had been going on between Larry and Roger before the tragedy. Funny how the family members describe Larry as acting "strangely" the night before he shot Roger, yet no one admitted that he was actually depressed. Judging from how they said he was acting, seems like he was severly depressed and needed help...yet no one noticed? hmmm

Like script pointed out, the black community never really touches on depression or deals with anyone with manic behavior. It affected the behaviors of Florence Ballard, Phyllis Hyman, Donny Hathaway and Larry Troutman.

I know, but it all just so sad. sad

This was the best unsung all season! The Roger/zapp unsung is how it should be done!

I thought this Unsung was the best to date too script. One of the things I picked up when they spoke of the pressure Larry was under with keeping the family books....the list of obligation which included childsupport. If you've really haven't plain to have a lot of children, those precious bundle of joy can drain your coffers financailly. Roger words of wisdom about dope should have included the cost of unplanned pregnancy.

commentary. His commentary done nothing to add to the show.

Awww phunkdaddy, I didn't feel that way. I thought that Snoop's perspective as a fan filled in perfectly. I didn't think he was over the top or fake at all, he was a fan just like we all are. biggrin

Now that Techn9ne guy or whoever he is, don't quite know why he was asked for his input though....rolleyes

Tech worked with Roger on his "Anghellic" album shortly before he was murdered, and comin from Kansas City, Mo who's hip-hop is influenced by R&B/Funk like the west coast, Roger was among one of his biggest influences.

Never said Snoop wasn't a fan. I just thought his input wasn't neccessary.
All i needed to hear was the input from his bandmates and family.
If i wanted to hear a rapper's perspective, i would have rather heard it
from Eric Sermon who sampled Roger first.

As much as I enjoyed the Unsung Bootsy show, this one on Zapp/Roger by far was the one that touched me the most.

Yes indeed...Drac, the one who put down one of the great guitars solos on a funk cut with "Slide"...It was cool to see him on there. It was good to see Quik as well because like my girl H. stated earlier, Quik has always been a major student of Roger.

You sho nuff' got that right, player. I have mentioned this on here a few times in years past...I had the beautiful experience in meeting Roger. I was out with my mother and we went by Tower Records on Sunset Blvd in Hollywood. And there was Roger, dressed in this pearl white suit, all by himself, looking at some albums in the jazz section. I told my mother "Mom, there's Roger Troutman!". We walked over and I said hello to Roger. He turned and said hello, extending his hand. I told him this was my mother and she can attest to how much I wore out his albums! He was so gracious and polite to my mother, saying hello. Totally classy. I shook his hand and tried to express all the love I had for him and his music in a short period of time! He was so gracious listening to me tell him how much of an influence he had on me as a musician, how many times I had seen him live, etc. He mentioned that he was out here working with Dre. I remember when we were getting in the car to leave, we saw Roger standing in the parking lot as a taxi pulled up and he got in.

Not a hater. I used to like snoop in 1993 during the
G'd up West Coast era but that's done and over with and
musically over the year's he just hasn't progressed enough
for my taste.

You're close...On P's Controversy tour in 81/82, it was Zapp, The Time and then P. I went to the show out here at the Santa Monica Civic in Feb. 82. Great show and Zapp was killin'! Teena Marie opened for P on the Dirty Mind tour.

Yes they can, but this (ain't) about grammer lol its about the technical aspect of Roger's music, considering they were his students at one point,,,,I mean the man personally taught them all about the talk box machine and the rest of his production tricks.

You don't have to be the grammer king to actually talk so people can understand what you are saying Eric always sounds like he has a bunch of marbles in his mouth.

But I am not going to waste my time on this anymore. I don't need has been rappers gabbing on about great RnB groups to hold my interest and most RnB fans don't either. I just wish BET and TVONE knew that.
