Look, me & my family have been through worse shit so I'm not one that needs the lecture. No one is applauding what happened. All I'm saying is it is now October 22nd. How much longer are we gonna play this game because its been 8 months and counting. And I for one am fucking sick of hearing about it. God didn't set a rewind button on time so the only alternative people have is to move on and learn from the past. It maybe difficult, it maybe painful, it may take years but being able to truly forgive someone is serious and for that reason uncommon.

Now everyone looked at this particular situation differently since it well, involved celebrities, who you know are supposed to be God-like robots who never fault or fumble. These are the individuals, the so-called tabloid targets and tragedies whose vices are placed in a public arena for society to bash. Domestic violence isn't extinct but holy shit nothing makes a better story than a young black male, seemingly on top of the world, getting into a fight with his girlfriend, who just so happens to have 5 #1 hits. What is so shock & awe about drug abuse? Nothing really. But we take a different spin on it when it involves an American princess like Lindsay Lohan who hooks up with the wrong crowd. So I mean, I understand what Chris did and it shouldn't be taken lightly but I also know that his life NOR career shouldn't and ISN'T over because of it.

I know where you coming from,,,,,but for somebody who've been through a similar situation myself, I don't have an ounce of compassion toward him nor should I be obliged to and THATS human too.

In fact, the whole "Get Over It" talk is what makes bullshit like this so damn repetitive. Punishment is beside the point, examining the root of this problem IS the point,,,,for him and every other sick fuck who puts his hand on a woman, just cause they can, they're the ones(and everybody who sympathize with them) who HAVE to "get over it".

The thing I understand is why Chris feels it's so important to get back out there and try to salvage his music career when there should be other more important issues in his life to fix. His music should be the last thing on his mind to get back on track. I don't know if he's actually going to learn anything by going the route that he's going.

You and musicjunky both make really good points. I just feel that he will not get the help he needs by going back out there to revive his music career. He needs to put his focus somewhere else for now.

To be honest, I like Chris Brown and people should give the kid a break confused It takes two to have a confrontation, not saying any woman deserves to be hit but he's just a kid and how long are people gonna make him pay for this?

I've never liked Chris Brown, with those cold, mean, beady little eyes of his, and I don't feel obligated to now just because he screwed up.

Secondly, he hasn't exactly given the public a chance to think better of him, ya know? His actions, comments, etc., have been cringe-worthy from a PR perspective.

And, I, too, wonder wtf the big rush is to get back on the scene?? Perhaps that's all he knows, but that could be part of his problem. Get some life real skills and counseling. I mean, his CD is supposed to be called "Graffiti," while one of his court-ordered community service jobs is to remove graffiti. It all just feels rushed.

I hear your points, but music is more than likely his only livelihood so that answers most of your points. He needs to make money like we all do-not saying that what he did was right because it wasn't, but the kid deserves forgiveness like we all do. What he did was horrible, but how long is he gonna have to pay for it? What could he do to persuade people that he is sorry? Not likely much.

I just said it--go away. Work on himself away from the media. His saga has been in the media since it happened. Why not take a complete break now or at least until he's finished with his court-ordered counseling and community service? If he's that broke he could write for other artists until he gets his head straight. If he took my advice he'd be doing much better than he is now, throwing hissy fits at Oprah and looking like an inarticulate dumbass on Larry King.

Not to be funny, but his career is not that strong anyway and a serious break like that would be the end of his career. Yes he needs to work on himself more, but in todays music industry that break could break his career. I find it interesting that this kid makes a mistake and all hell breaks loose, but a talented mofo like R. Kelly continues to do the messed up stuff that he does and gets away with it disbelief with nothing more than what seems a slap on the wrist.

You are preaching to choir with the R. Kelly stuff.

Look, in a nutshell, if I were running things, both R. Kelly and Chris Brown would be hearing "CLEAN UP ON AISLE 9!!" for the rest of their lives, okay? biggrin

If it takes two to have a confrontation, both parties could have filed a report for assault/domestic abuse, this didn't happen in this case. We've spoken about this case in numerous threads and I'll repeat: Playground rules of you hit me first or you disrespected me so I'm justified in kicking your ass doesn't apply in a court of law.

I agree with Harle's line of thinking. I'm very suspicious when I hear anyone use pharases such as "get over it", "that was in the past" or "we need to put this behind us". More often than not such pharses or used to ignore and/or stop any meaningful conversation on what's transpired; in most instances it voids any possibilites for finding any real solutions. I suspect this is the reason why domestic abuse (a term a definition I loath, it's an oxymoron) assault continues unabated.
