Within the next 10 years (2010-2019):

1. The album format will finally die. I can see the music industry going to the level of single and/or EP releases.

2. New music videos will only be made for Google/Youtube. In other words, don't look for ViaCon (MTV/VH-1/BET and substations) to show videos in any time slot.

3. All new music will be created with computers in bedrooms, closets, and/or basements more often, meaning that professional music studios will be next to filed for Chapter 7 & 13 bankruptcy.

4. There will be more software instruments (on laptop & notebook computers) in "live" performances more often than traditional hardware instruments. Although guitars will still exist, the drums & keyboards in general will be replace by computers full-time.

5. Michael Jackson will be reborn as a software vocalist for any would-be producer/musician/beat-maker to purchase for their music studio for $199. Other vocalists of yesteryear will soon be available thereafter.

Remember, I said THIS^ first!

6. Electronic music and it's sub-genres will make another comeback in mainstream pop culture due to a creation of a new sub-genre that is being work on somewhere in Europe.

maybe cds and albums will be dead , wich is sad to me.
but due to the internet becomming more important . and the labels less important, i see a space for real musicians to showcase there music, perhaps a more broaden choice of music genre's ( not just hip hop and R&B like it tis now) since stations as mtv are not relavant anymore , videos can be seen online

I get into very few new artists. Even the newer ones who I respect and admire a bit I don't enjoy like the older guys.

I don't see a lot changing, really. I see myself enjoying a handful of new artists, but hoping Stevie, Prince, and a few other of my favorites continue making new music.

And hoping we aren't STILL waiting for some truly new MJ material.

Big stadium shows will be done..Bands will play at intimate venues and charge pay per view on their website....
Major Labels will decline dramatically.Independents will rise and Acts will be rushing to join CD Baby and alike will be the distributor of choice
Electronic music will be prominent, but not King(yet). Many songs will be made in the bedroom on the laptop, but that's no different than bands making songs in their garage or warehouse....
Bands and musicians will not be extinct.John Legend,Alicia Keys and others will just be in their late 30's..relax there will be an audience for funk and soul..
