Soul Train 10/17/9

Al Green is on-I think it was before he got hit with the hot grits and also some Stax artists called Mel and Tim.
One of the songs played is "Love Train"

I hope Auntie Ree's breastesses are much more manageable. I mean, cameramen can only work so hard.

BETJ is the same as Centric, right? Why would it say BETJ instead of Centric.

I have realized I am not a fan of the early 70s eps. Don't like the music as much. I think I will love the mid 70s-75 through 88 much more.

When did Soul Train start broadcasting?

Auntie Ree was thick in the right places in 1973 so yeah you don't have anything to worry about. lol In fact the ONLY thing hefty on Ree was her red 'Fro. fro

Why BETJ and not CENTRIC? Well technically BETJ and CENTRIC are the same channel, just different name and new more exciting broadcasting.

Soul Train broadcasted in Chicago only in 1970 and began national broadcast on October 2, 1971.

No, your DVR will probably say either Centric or BETJ. They are the same channel, but not all cable/satellite providers have changed their schedules.

I saw it and I was pissed. When I saw that extremely old theme song at the beginning, I thought they were re-airing the episode they showed Friday night. When I saw it was a different episode, it was already too late to put a blank DVD in. I'm a perfectionist and I don't record partial episodes.

They really need to advertise when they are going to air shows. "Fame" is another one I'd like to watch but I need to know what time to look for it. I'm not going to sit through all their other bullshit looking for it.

I'm tired of those early 70s episodes too. I've never heard of half of the songs they have played for the dancers and don't care too much for them after hearing them. Thank God disco changed things later. They need to get into the 1977-early 1983 episodes. I like music up through 1984 but around mid 1983, a lot of the dancers on "Soul Train" became too stiff.

I think what Centric's problem is (and WGN also when they were airing the old episodes) is that they only choose episodes where the guests are huge stars that have become extemely well known and even worn out over the years. We'll never get to see someone like The Barkays or Skyy unless they are on the same episode with someone like Aretha Franklin or Luther Vandross.
