B-side from the RN1814 era
You can tell the 'Teen Pop' craze that erupted in the late 90's (Britney Spears, *NSYNC, Backstreet Boys etc.) were influenced by Janet: Guess who it's about

I would go as far and say it's partially why the album did so poorly. If Janet kept the demo version it would've become an instant hit! You're actually the first person that I came across that loves this song. Many other Janet fans hate it!

It's flat out about her father. I think it was probably too personal of a song to be on an album. Much the same way Prince would delegate certain songs to B-side status for the same reason ("Hello", "She's Always In My Hair"). "You Need Me" sounds like it could be an extended portion of "Miss U Much". It could almost easily fit after she says "That's the end?"

It's a bit too personal and wouldn't fit on the album but I love it! Janet's genius writing is amazinggg!!!

This is another one of my fav. unreleased tracks I still haven't heard any of the AFY era demos. Have they even leaked yet?
