D'Angelo & James River & Citizen Cope The RainWater

I cannot wait to have these two.

I do belive that James River is completed & has been submitted to his label and i hope Clive Davis does right by him & let's it see the light of day.

Being a label mate of Whitney Houston's, Alicia Keys & Jamie Fox, i wonder if D'Angelo's hand is being forced to commercialze his style, as wikipedia reports that Alicia has sold 30 milion worldwide, thus far & Jamie is coming off a few hit singles himself.

Also, im a big Citizen Cope fan an cannot wait for his new material as well.

Graycap23, what does that mean?

Why do you (and everyone else for that matter, lol) always conclude so negatively about D'Angelo?

Is there no such thing as a James River album?

With a new label & Clive Davis's recent track record with getting work out've Whitney Houston, you think he couldn't do the same with D'Angelo?

Is not Clive's name & reputation (although rock solid) involved as well. Just throw money at D'Angelo to finish the album & by out his contract from Virgin to do nothing with it?

Has he relapsed so badly that he cannot recover from his addictions? What is it, lol?

Please engage me with your thought proces behind your sentiments.

sigh ehhh I wouldn't take GrayCap's comments as seriously as you are taking it. All he's saying is how the majority of us feel "We'll believe it when we see it".

nod

We've been reading the same "press skit" since 2002. Seems like every year since then there was this drumroll about an "upcoming album" shrug

I thought i read that a few here already have heard it, and so it in fact exists.

Yes, we have been getting the area 51, def con level orange security treatment, when it comes to actual honest answers pertaining to D'Angelo.

I've yet to read that someone has actaully met this man in person, have seen him before outside of a courtroom/rehab center.

I'm one that hated voodoo with a passion, and has had to live with that bitter taste in my mouth since 2000. I really desired to see d'angelo redeem himself with another outing.

I also hated the J Dilla/Questlove input, as there dalliance with d'angelo seemed to suck all the life out've his work. You couldn't get a drier sounding cd.

high as a kite?

I don't think your encounters with him were threatening, violent or ones in which mase/pepper spray had to be pulled out & he had to be subdued, huh?

He seemed to be good natured and cordial to a fault.

I mean, i never gotten from d'angelo, that he was either a social butterfly, or a social pirrana either but was introverted.

Im sure if you got into his space & broached his favourite subjects (Prince, Marvin, J Dilla, Sly Stone, Fender Rhodes keyboards, etc) he would open up like a real good book.

D still lives here in Richmond, VA, as far as I know. In Midlothian, to be exact. James River is a homage to his home town.

I've never heard any of the River material. I thought they were still working on it the last that I hear. The Joe Texan, chaos and drummer material was just practice material.

You can catch him once in a while at the most popular Italian restaurant on Midlothian ..

I haven't heard any of the new material, but I heard through the grapevine that it is some good stuff ...

There's a lady here that caimed that she had it.(Marysharronsluvchild)

Im suprised you'll let her off the hook so easily.

Ha, I love Italian food too! I just finished off eating a domino's pizza italian bowl thing, lol. Took me 2 days to eat the whole thing.

Are you in Richmond Mr.Soul Power? Richmond & Midloathian are in two different directions. When im coming off 95 south i have to get onto The Powhitte Parkway, cross over the james River, pay the toll and go into Midloathian.

You say that they are P Funk/Beatlish..

Can you tell if Questlove drummed on them. *prays that he didn't*

Maxwell did come back with a great album, Graycap still had to complain. neutral

I do understand the skeptiscism.

It'd be nice to bump into someone that actually knows him on one of these forums, so that we'd get something firsthand.

I thought i read here that someone has heard it and offered insight into how it sounded.

I'm not concerned about quality. But I will believe a new album is coming when its official and not a moment sooner.

I remember 2007, scratching my head wondering where the hell Maxwell's album was. It took more than two years later to get that. So yeah.

If we are to believe Mary, it's out there already.

I do think that there will be an official release in early 2010, as Whitney's sales have never really taken off with her new cd & Clive might be looking toward Alicia to bring up the rear in the 4th Quarter of 2009.

I'd settle for the boot right now though.
