I hope Loleatta sued them also. lol

Both Loleatta Holloway and her songwriter/producer Dan Hartman did sue Black Box for copyright violations (Love Sensation was the sample used for Ride On Time), but all matters were settle out of court.

I think they gave both Loleatta and Dan six figure sums to settle. Loleatta paid them back by having Marky Mark's label include her in the credits of his "Good Vibrations" resulting in her only pop number-one. Imagine what it would've been if Martha had been credited for the songs for Black Box and C+C Music Factory.

They had folks sueing them from all directions. lol

But just look how great their music sounded. Just imagine if they had treated Martha right and put her in the videos and television appearances. And also if they approached Loleatta the right way and got her to contribute also. They could have put out a lot more albums and could have been one of the best groups of the 1990s. Instead, just look at the bullshit that we ended up with dominating the 1990s (shit hop). lol

Good point. But remember, THIS was within the 1990-93 era of modern pop culture. A lot of people were still piss about the Milli Vanill controversy and these same people were demanding all artists to "keep it real" (a slogan that is always mention in hip-hop culture).

But look around us today in 2009, we notice that most artists are lip-syncing to their own vocals in all of their "live" performances. THIS bullshit would have never been acceptable 20 years ago.

You mean Good Vibrations. cool

And yes, Marky Mark did the right thing by have Loleatta an important part of the recording process. That song is an excellent hip-house classic.
