I can understand why. That's my favorite song of the "Bridge Over Troubled Water" album.

Yeah. It stands out quite a bit from the rest of that album. Not a big fan of the title track though.

i grew up listening to simon and garfunkel - especially Mrs Robinson album ... i later bought this album and i loved Paul Simon's lyrics...
its so creepy now listening to it i think in alot of ways ... i mean Paul knew they were growing apart ... and Garfunkel singing it - had to know that same thing ... and they really never could get back together to make it work ... save for a few concerts and/or collaborations.... i love their harmonies and i still to this day go thru my S & G fazes when i have to listen to a few songs etc ... Colonel Angus may be smelly. colonel angus may be a little rough . but deep down ... Colonel angus is very sweet.

Get that same feeling as well when listening to it. It's a beautiful parting song. i love their harmonies and i still to this day go thru my S & G fazes when i have to listen to a few songs etc ...
Art Garfunkel's voice is too gorgeous. Paul's ain't too shabby either.

I have read alot about Simon and Garfunkel and i totally respect each of them ...
i respect Garfunkel for wanting to go out on his own alil ... with the acting etc ... and Paul i am sure can be difficult . But i also respect them cus they are still friends ... and they make light of the whole relationship in so many humorous ways ... the sat night live sketch was funny ... where Paul didnt recognize Arty ... It was recently said on Howard Stern - that Fred things Paul Simon writes more beautiful lyrics than Dylan (which i think Paul has said he was just trying to be like ) ... and i agree with that observation ... always loved Paul's songs ... Colonel Angus may be smelly. colonel angus may be a little rough . but deep down ... Colonel angus is very sweet.

Perhaps their material was more personal than imagined. the sat night live sketch was funny ... where Paul didnt recognize Arty ...
Haven't seen it. It was recently said on Howard Stern - that Fred things Paul Simon writes more beautiful lyrics than Dylan (which i think Paul has said he was just trying to be like ) ... and i agree with that observation ... always loved Paul's songs ...
Not that I'm an expert on either songwriter, but I think Dylan edges him out as far as invention and amibiguity. But Paul really knows how to write a song that cuts direct to the heart.

i just searched for the video/sketch they did on SNL ... it was back in the day .... (i could not find it ) - - - but there is a scene ... in line at a movie etc ... and the line stretches a long time ... and Paul Simon is in line ... and people come up to him and say "hey paul , u probably dont remember me , but i was at your concert in 1958 ..." and he remembers exactly what they were wearing etc .... funny stuff ...
then at the end . the punch line ... art walks up to him .. and Paul cant remember his name ... it is a funny sketch ... i agree in general with ya ... about Dylan. I am not a fan of Dylan's but i think he is widely regarded as a brilliant lyricist .... and Paul ... well ... i think he is respected but sometimes NOT put in the same category as some of the other greats ... Colonel Angus may be smelly. colonel angus may be a little rough . but deep down ... Colonel angus is very sweet.
