TonyVanDam said: There is also an early 80's funk vibe as well. The groove is so Roger/Zapp-like.
The project includes FUNK elements from the 60s through the 80s, Zapp/Roger being one component. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. C'mon y'all."

Here's my favorite from D Train. They used to turn this one out at the skating rink. Those wheels were flying on the skate floor and the asses were shakin' all up against the wall and in the center of the skate floor. There wasn't no mellow head bobbing either. If your ass couldn't get down, you had to sit down. Andy is a four letter word.

OP, its a decent example of modern funk, but not great IMO: a copy of early eighties funk, but not offering anything really fresh and exciting.
I said it before, IMO it are the cross-over bands of the late eighties and nineties (the early Chilli Peppers, Fishbone, Urban Dance Squad, Living Colour, Rage against the Machine, Gotcha, the French Funk Federation) who kept the funk alive in the form of a mix-genre. And more recently it are electro-funk artists like Daft Punk, Daan and Bastian who keep doing something interesting within the 'funk' field. Copying eighties Cameo-formats and early Prince rhythems isnt exactly my kind of idea of the development of funk.
