When was the last time they released a new song? Not counting the new cd of covers.

The Brothers soundtrack in the late 90s.

Kool. I have that.
Thanks.

One thing I like about Maze is,they have never "sold out".They have stayed true to their style. No rappers on their songs,no trendy gimmicks,no lame samples, just good old fashioned soul and funk jams.I think that's the reason for their longevity.

Not necessarily true. This was on their first greatest hits compilation. There was also another remix for "Before I Let Go" with a rapper.

Also, there is a remix of "Laid Back Girl" with a rapper on it.

I think Soul was referring to the albums though.
Like i have the cassette single remix of Laid Back Girl
with the rap on it but that version is not on the LP.
And you know sometimes the label comes up with the brilliant idea lol
to do a remix of a song with a rapper.
Don't laugh at my funk
This funk is a serious joint

I know, but you can't say that they didn't try to cross over or "sell out". The remix of "Before I Let Go" with the rap is HORRIBLE. I actually like the Kurtis Blow remix ok. That remix was actually serviced to radio and charted.

Those remixes of "Before I Let Go" were done by Capitol Records (for a greatest hits set) against Frankie's wishes. He was quite pissed about it,and rightfully so.He's never been a big fan of hip-hop.He raised quite a ruckus in the late 80s when Rob Base sampled (stole) the "Joy And Pain" hook.

Yeah, the fact that none of their actual studio albums feature rappers lets you know exactly how Frankie feels about hip-hop lol

I heard about that. If you listen to the remix of Joy and Pain, it sounds like they used a different vocal OR the vocals were re-recorded.

Do you really think he's against it? I just think he's one of these like MJB where it's cool for a remix, but not for the album.
