Your lies, they cut me.
Now your words don't mean a thing.
I don't give a damn if you ever loved me..."

Great song from an incredible album. He was singing about police brutality long before hip-hop tackled this subject.

Rick and the SCB threw down some serious funk on this track. With Stevie Wonder on the horn might I add. There was an article in Wax Poetics on the recording of this song, where I guess Rick and Stevie had a little verbal exchange lol .

I don't remember what happened verbatim, but Stevie thought there was just too much harmonica in the song, and Rick told him to 'play the f**king harmonica how I asked you please.' I don't think it ever went beyond that, but a funny story none the less. You could always count on Rick to be Rick, with anyone.
Lady Cab Driver is one of the greatest songs ever!

Love the reggae/ funk on this track, and of course Mister Wonder on horns. I'd have to agree with Rick, the rawness of the harmonica just feels right on this track the way it is.
At this point in history, we have a choice to make
To either, walk the path of love, or be crippled by our hate

Front to back, side to side ... this song is perfection through and through. Rick at his b to the e to the s to the T. Lady T works that hook like a 9 to 5.

in prison in a Vibe article. He stated that he was
singing about pimps, hoes, and cops long before rappers. lol
