Two versions of the album? I wonder what the difference is

My guess is that, one version will be the regular album while the other version will be an expanded version featuring three or four bonus songs and possibly a DVD?

Robin Thicke Takes Over Las Vegas
Nov 2009

Robin Thicke tried his luck in Las Vegas on Saturday (Nov. 21). His first stop was at Best Buy where he posed for photos and signed autographs to promote his new album Sex Therapy and Beats by Dr. Dre headphones. Later in the evening, he partied and performed at The Bank Nightclub at Bellagio where he won over ladies’ hearts.

Not feeling the new songs, still cant get into this guy for the most part, but this direction is now straight into the mainstream and what everyone is doing so, hes making that "i have to sell" record

I agree.I enjoyed his last two albums because it was Robin doing his own,retro-styled R&B sound. You can tell that he's a huge fan of legends like Marvin Gaye and Al Green. He took those influences and turned it into something fresh and new.Based on the few tracks that I have heard, this new CD seems to be the complete opposite shrug I hope I'm wrong.

The song sounds a bit like Patti Labelle's "I Love You", and the lyrics sample "It's My Party, (and I'll Cry If I Want To)" by some girl group in the 50s..

Robin Thicke and Justin Timberlake need to get a style of their own.
What is working for Prince is not necessarily gonna work for them.

It sounds kinda Princey....

oh for fuck's sake, that IS their style. Everyone is going to sound like someone at some point! Prince has sounded like Rick James and Santana more than he's sounded like himself at times! He's sounded like (and played) Sly Stone and James Brown more than himself at times. Just because someone makes soul/R&B music, sings in a falsetto and writes another great sex ballad doesn't mean they're stealing Prince's style. Prince has borrowed more than he's created, moreso in live shows. All those fills, hand gestures, "turn it around!" calls, etc? You think he created that stuff? Go listen to Sly records. Go listen to Earth Wind & Fire. Go listen to James Brown stuff. SO much you'll find you've heard before.

This is either a double disc or one really long album. Oh I forgot about the expanded version possibility.

Sounds like Paula on Start With A Kiss. I hope not every song is falsetto but I'm definitely picking it up.

I've preordered this, and I don't think I'm going to get disappointed!!

Thank you. If you didn't watch it, 2 albums within a calender year. Al Green did it once or twice during his career.....

Yeah, especially back in the 70s.It wasn't unusual for an artist to do two albums in the same year...

In 1977,Donna Summer released two albums: 'I Remember Yesterday' and 'Once Upon A Time'....the latter was a 2-LP set.

Michael Jackson was probably the artist who started the trend of waiting several years before releasing a new album.

J5 released 3 albums in '70 and The Supremes released 4 albums in '65
