I'd have to throw in 'One Last cry' by Brian McKnight, 'Medicine for my Pain' by Lynden David Hall and (seeing as this is a prince site) 'Sometimes It Snows In April'.

Donny Hathaway's "For All We Know" is truly sentimental to me.

This song always gets me. I've lost the use of my heart, But I'm still alive, Still looking for the life, The endless pool on the other side, It's a wild wild west, I'm doing my best, I'm a soldier of love, Every day and night, I'm soldier of love, All the days of my life.

R. delivered it with so much soul. I think this is the song that easily places him up there with the greats as one of the best R&B singers of all time. If you listen to it and the orginal back-to-back you'll see what I mean.

I wouldn't go as far as to say that he is one of the best R&B singers, but I guess that's mostly up to preference. In my opinion, he isn't a match for Philippe Wynné in the vocal department, and the musicians are superior on the Spinners' version. Overall, I like the 70s soundscape much better than anything they did in the 90s. Music made in the 70s sounds more organic, which appeals to me. Also, if I recall correctly, Robert's version used a drum machine, which never really quite compares to an actual drummer On the Org since 2005.

Thank you Harlepolis... This is one of the saddest and most beautiful song... l can relate... especially the part he talks about going home, watching TV, troublesleeping... Very underrated, but genial! Thanx for the link... Oh, BTW Kanys sampled it on Twista "Overnight celebrity"... (which l also happen to like ) Everybody is somebody, but nobody wants to be themselves.

WTH!!!!??!?!?!??!?!?!? The original is 10x better than R's. I like R's also, but I love the sentiment behind the original. Especially how Felipe introduced the song and sang it with such conviction. To me, R, shouted a bit too much on his version. If he redid it today, I think it might sound different. Especially since he's older and a bit more mature. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

This song is sad just for the simple fact it's about trying to let someone notice you're even alive when you're afraid to do it yourself:
