Aretha Franklin's best album? Which Aretha Franklin album is her best?
She has 44 albums! Where do I start? | |

IMO, I don't think Aretha has recorded a definitive album (I know a lot of people are going to disagree with me). The closest I've ever come to listening to an Aretha album all the way through w/o hitting the "skip" button is "Jump To It" and "Get It Right". "It's not nice to fuck with K.B.! I've been listening to this one lately:
This definitely has to be her BEST vocal performance, period! 
Not sure why this was forgotten back in 1973, but it is one of my favorites by Ms. Aretha. Plus, she's with Quincy Jones. 
Aretha's greatest album of the 70's, period. Probably her greatest achievement by far. She got down, dirty, and personal on this one. Emotional songs that pull your heart by the strings. Her take of 'All the King's Horses' will put you in awe. 
This is essential to any soul music collection. Covers her historic Atlantic period where she was ruling from '67 to '76. It hits all of the major points of her career at that particular label. Everything from I Never Loved a Man to Something That He Can Feel is here in this box and then some. Check me out and add me on:

I used to bump this hits one on cassette!

'Let Me In Your Life' (1974)
Back in '74,my mother used to play this album to death!  It's my favorite Aretha album,containing two of her finest singles of the 70s: "I'm In Love" and "Until You Come Back To Me (That's What I'm Gonna Do)". | |

I've often wondered if Aretha had stayed gospel. Where would she be amongst the gospel greats today like Albertina Walker, Shirley Caesar. Vocally during this period Aretha was a beast! | |

 She certainly has her share of inconsistent albums,but I'd say that these albums are near perfect:
'I Never Loved A Man The Way I Love You' (1966) 'Let Me In Your Life' (1974) 'Aretha' (1980) 'Jump To It' (1982) 1976's 'Sparkle' (produced by Curtis Mayfield) is another strong,solid album from beginning to end. | |

You must be kidding right? Like I said, I knew people were going to disagree with me. I was never into Aretha until 1980 when she moved to Arista.
