Brilliant cat. Big influence on my guitar playing. U know he wrote and recorded that classic 4 his grilfriend when he was only 17 years of age. To me he was that missing link between Sly and P. Unfortunately, he couldn't breakout really big on his own.

I've written about 3 threads about this song alone. I have the lyrics to this song framed and hanging on my wall. And I've had it hanging on my wall no matter where I have lived since 1981. Fantastic lyrics. Did I say the lyrics to this song is fantastic? As I have always mentioned in the past, I was first hipped to The Brothers Johnson's version first. And I loved the song then as a little kid. It wasn't untill I was 12 that my cousin played me Shuggie's version and that's when I first became a Shuggie NUT. I STILL like The Bro Johnson's version a lil bit mo' better mainly because of the rock guitar break in the middle of the song. And Louis's bass playing. BUT I love Shuggie's because his is the O.G. and he has elements in his that's NOT there on the Brothers Johnson's version. So....Just a great fucking song. Great lyrics, great melody, great hook, great chord progression.

Love this song. I've only ever heard this version. Didn't realise there was a more popular cover.
