I downloaded a "cleaner" version of her 1969 masterpiece, Come to My Garden on my Zune and it brought tears to my eyes. It's probably one of the best things I've ever heard. I still can't believe she passed away at such a relatively young age. But what she left behind was a rich and engrossing musical catalog that showed the essence of love and happiness.

I've sung Minnie's praises on here for years.....She's one of my all time favorite vocalists.

Love her!
I've lost the use of my heart, But I'm still alive, Still looking for the life, The endless pool on the other side, It's a wild wild west, I'm doing my best, I'm a soldier of love, Every day and night, I'm soldier of love, All the days of my life.

Some of my favorites...

Her voice is so angelic in this song...

I always thought this was Michael, but I didn't see his name on the album.

That whole album was beautifully dark & haunting.

Def the PERFECT showcase of the brilliance of Charles Stepney's arrangments, Richard Rudolph's lyrics and Minnie's voice.

It takes a great mind to come up with the concept behind Le Fleur worship

I've always loved her stuff- the solo albums, and her work with Rotary Connection, from 1967- 1972....

I useta see Minnie all around Chicago w/ Rotary Connection in small clubs circa '68-'69- '70.

I so wish that some of these performances were recorded because RC live were so awesome.

Because they couldn't reproduce their studio sound live with all the strings and symphony additions they funked up their arrangements with congas and funky electric basslines not on the recordings. It was smokin'.

I had never heard of HER nor what she even sounded like until one day at the record store in 1979, I caught a glimpse of her (on the Minnie album across the store) looking back at me and it was love at first sight. I bought the album because I found her to be so incredibly beautiful. It was a completely spiritual thing. When I put it on the turntable after I got home (I was only 15 then.), "Memory Lane" began playing and 1/2 way through the song, I thought either my turntable or my speakers were messin' up because all I could hear was this high pitched noise for 20 seconds.

So I played it again and after I heard the high pitched sound again, it was followed by a gasp and then I realized it was HER doing that! The rest is history. I went out and bought ALL of her solo stuff and now own all the Japanese imports of her solo CD's since the mid-nineties. "Stay In Love" (the album) I would dream to and here I am at 45 having met my soul mate who also knew who she was.

On our 2nd anniversary, (This is creepy, but cool and SO MINNIE.) I gave him an enlarged color copy of the "Love Lives Forever" album cover and he gave me the same, but he DREW his in pencil! Neither of us knew what the other was giving each other, so that's why I know that through her music, she STILL reaches ME. She always has, she always will and I will always love my "perfect angel" for the rest of my life. Incidentally, I blew up the "Stay in Love" picture of her sitting on the couch all by herself that's in the Epic gatefold of the vinyl release from 1977 and had it framed in a red metal frame with an orange mat and she hangs in my crib over MY couch as a reminder to me that the fantasy is over and that it's really a romantic reality set to music. God bless Richard,Maya and Marc. Minnie's essence was always about love's beautiful simplicity.
Hungry? Just look in the mirror and get fed up.

'Memory Lane', 'I'm in Love Again' (with MJ) and 'Loving You' are my favorite Minnie tracks. She's a very underrated singer IMO and you can hear that she's influenced Mariah too.

I remember the song "Loving You" and I remember when I first heard it, it was around summertime. Everytime when I hear it now I think of summertime and the colour yellow,I alway associated yellow with summertime when I was younger.

She had a wonderful voice and was taken from us way too soon.

I love all the songs Stevie Wonder (an Afro-American songwriter who gained success with songs like Superstition or You Are The Sunshine Of My Life) wrote for her.

Her MJ duet was released posthumouresly, was it co-writen by MJ or just an ordinary duet?

Minnie Riperton - Light My Fire (with José Feliciano)

Minnie was soooo genuine!!!

Look for Her Chess Years, a double album of her earliest stuff with The Gems, a girl group patterned after The Supremes, solo stuff recorded under the name Andrea Davis and 13 cuts with The Rotary Connection.

Love "Adventures in Paradise", the song.

Love how she sings as if she's like an airplane going down at the end of it, lol

Great vocalist who never got the props she deserved for being a talented vocalist. Along with Patti LaBelle, Syreeta Wright, Cissy Houston and Deniece Williams, she was the pioneer of the whistle register.

My favorite Minnie song has to be "Memory Lane"!
