The Adrian Belew Power Trio!!!

Adrian Belew is now playing with two youngsters who are a sister-brother team. They are Julie Slick on Bass (23 years old and very hot) and Eric Slick on Drums (22 years old).

I caught the act at the West End Cultural Centre last night in Winnipeg. It was awesome. Adrian Belew is playing a gold Parker Fly guitar these days, with a mess of electronics and foot pedals and tape loops.

He played tunes from their new album "e" which is all instrumental, as well as his 80s solo tunes like Big Electric Cat and Three of a Perfect Pair and Thela Hun Jinjeet from his King Crimson work. The band absolutely fucking rocked. Belew can really use a whammy bar to full effect.

I got pictures, autographed set list and autographed CD from the whole band! I got to look Adrian Belew in the eye, shake his hand and tell him he was awesome. It was a dream come true for me to see him play in such an intimate venue. I'm floating today!

Harrumph...I was hoping to go to this show, but it fell right in the middle of our period end, and I'm always stuck in the office until 8 or 9 those evenings. Even when I do manage to get out of work early, I'm usually too wrung out & cranky to even think about going out. Ah well, I'm really too old & tired for rock shows anyway. neutral

I feel that way sometimes too. But this show was not screaming loud, I mean the guitar was "there" of course, but I didn't go away with my head ringing. The new West End Cultural Centre is an excellent place to see a band. There were a lot of 40+ and 50+ people there for Adrian Belew.
