Okay, so I'm not clear about something. Why is the chick in the song wearing a wig? Is he seeing her on the streets walking as a prostitute?
If the gay rumors are true, this song makes much more sense. Its "awkward" for Craig seeing his gay ex-lover walking the streets dressed in drag because when he was with Craig, he was with him as a man. Now that they are not together anymore, he misses his dude even though his dude is now a chick and with another (maybe straight) guy?
