Like A Virgin/Desperately Seeking Susan 84/85 era. I thought Madonna was HOT then. I liked her music then too..the album Like A Virgin, especially the title track was very cool. And I LOVED "Crazy For You". Still do. Reminds me heavily of a girlfriend of mine at that time. That whole period does.

Here are the facts...

Seems like all your pent up energy could be better used elsewhere, instead of dropping segregationist and dismissive terms like "you people".

PS "You Must Love Me" was from a musical, and not written by her. I suppose you'd have to take that up with .....oh who are those follows who have won countless awards as a song writing team and on their own...one of them has even written award winning songs for Disney.....some Lloyd Webber fellow and Tim Rice or something or other. rolleyes

The erotica era is the one i admire her most for. But i kind of agree that she was at he peak from 89-94. I did enjoy ray of light, it was nice to see her re-launch her career so well, but Erotica always seems to be the album i go back to.

For the most part,I find her 90s albums to be alot more interesting than her 80s work.'Erotica' and 'Ray Of Light' mean alot more to me than the first three albums.I didn't even become a diehard fan until 'Like A Prayer'.

Unabashingly Raunchy (Erotica)

This was probably my favorite era...the Immaculate Collection / Truth Or Dare / Erotica era. It seemed like she was finding herself and going through the mid life crisis of 'about to hit thirty' stage. She didnt care what anyone thought and she was strong and confused at the same time. The pictures..the songs the film. It was all a young woman, on her rollercoaster ride to find herself. A very chaotic era but a part that is also fufilling as she wouldnt almost BE who she is without this era of time.

Yeah, the Erotica era found her growing and evolving in ways that we could have never imagined lol She needed to go through all that,in order to become the person she is today. Some critics predicted that she wouldn't recover from that period, but look what happened.A few years later, she had a baby, starred in 'Evita' and recorded 'Ray Of Light'.That's one thing that's so interesting about Madonna. She's always trying new things, moving on and never becoming complacent. That's the key to her longevity.

The early years (1982-1985) when she was full of ambition and an upcoming star.

She's still full of ambition, but she's too nice now.

Musically, I always find something I like but generally I dislike the mid 80s (86-88), basically the whole True Blue era.

Aren't you guys really put off by Madonna after SNL this weekend? She just looked really idiotic and shameless. It was rather embarrassing. How much fame does she want?

Oh chill out,it was just a fun little appearance rolleyes She is a celebrity, you know.Making cameo appearances on TV shows is part of the job. What do you want her to do,go into one of her mansions and hide from the world? This is Madonna we're talking about!

Blond Ambition Tour through to Bedtime Stories when she was on a sexual crusade and was really saying something and doing so in a creative way. I love all parts of her career, but the early 90s were when I became a proper fan and really started to take notice of the messages she was saying. She changed my life.

Anyone that frowns on the nineties is just bitter. There was nothing all that was weak released in that period! All of her albums were at least unique and exciting if not brilliant! I even dug out "I'm Breathless" and dug it's strong pop dance sound with a forties flair. And "Erotica", "Bedtime Stories" and "Ray Of Light"? Great writing and very adult. After that, I my apperciation for her waned a bit, I hate to say.

She made her most interesting music in the 90s.'Erotica' and 'Ray Of Light' are my favorite Madonna albums.I can never decide which album I like better, lol.Artistically, she covered alot of ground in the 90s:

I'm Breathless (1990)
Erotica (1992)
Bedtime Stories (1994)
Evita soundtrack (1996)
Ray Of Light (1998)

I thought it was rather funny. She made at least as much a fool of herself as Lady Gaga did.
And btw... don't say she's old and she should not wear such things anymore. She looked better than Gaga!

Yeah. It wasn't quite the "Like A Prayer" tour. I see "I'm Breathless"/Blonde Ambition/Immaculate Collection (w/ "Justify My Love" as one period different from "Like a Prayer", which I mostly see as the strong album and it's videos standing on their own.

I almost agree with that except I think Bedtime Stories wrecks her run of great albums in the 90's. If it wasn't for "Survival", "I'd Rather Be Your Lover" and "Don't Stop" I would like the album much more. Those songs are weak, badly written and childish, to more or less contradict what you said. And all the rest of the songs except for "Secret" and "Sanctuary" took me a while to get into. Ballads are a good thing to have on albums but not when basically every song is one. I also wish she had of cut down on a few songs off Erotica too. Like the rediculous "Did You Do It?" and "Thief of Hearts", the bland "In This Life", and the awful "Fever" remake

Madonna/Like A Virgin

Loved a lot of the songs (Borderline, Lucky Star, Into the Groove, Dress U Up) and loved the look and FU attitude - worked when she was young. She was all over my walls back then (alongside P of course)

Favourite album is Like A Prayer though - it had some emotions and felt like a real piece of work.

Tour - Only saw Blonde Ambition live, but it was the best pop show I ever saw.

"Did You Do It" is one of her worst tracks but it particly a remix and not an original track. Other than that, those are two of my favorite albums and that is my reason that I think that was her decade for strong . I'll gladly buy them again because the remastering on "Celebration" is pretty darn good!

Ray of Light-Many happy memories associated with that period of time in my life, plus Madonna really blended the techno thing into the her sound really well.

'Bedtime Stories' has a nice 'flow' to it.Every song sounds like it belongs here. The only filler track is "Don't Stop",which is the obligatory song about dancing. If she had replaced that song with one of the superior outtakes (maybe "Your Honesty" or "Let Down Your Guard"),the album would be near perfect. The one thing that strikes me about this album is how "warm" it sounds. It's the total opposite of 'Erotica',which sounds (intentionally) cold and robotic at times.'Bedtime Stories' is focused on warm melodies and vocals, soft ballads, and a return to R&B.It's a very warm, inviting collection of songs.

Okay, lyrically Don't Stop is shit. Just a cheaper version of Everbody.

BUTT

it's got a sweet little melody and they managed to make it sound as if you're flying off with some sounds.
