Joe Jackson No, not that Joe Jackson...
This guy is AMAZING live, seriously, surprisingly, one of the best live performers I've ever seen.. This is from the Night and Day album, which is superb!!

One of the most underrated artists of this generation! Takes risks that almost no other does, one of the best piano players ever also. JJ is superb. I'm always intrigued by his willingness to take risks. Body and Soul is my favorite album of his. Stand at the crossroads, and look, and ask for the ancient paths...(Jeremiah 6:16) www.ancientfaithradio.com

Steppin' Out is the first pop song I heard as a toddler. Still incredibly partial to the Night And Day album.

Oh, man...love love LOVE Night and Day. One of the truly amazing albums of the early 80s.
I may have to dig out my vinyl today... [Edited 10/4/09 6:40am] We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I wish he never rally was so against videos after Night and Day release success. He had a lot of good shit after 198-1983, expecially the Body and Soul release (Memphis!) and Mikes Murder soundtrack. He shot himself in the foot with that move but he has/had integrity. He is a national treasure for Is She Really Goin Out With Him alone.

I had to be dragged along to his concert in my early teens, but I cried several times throughout the show, and was incredibly moved by the whole performance, I was stunned actually. By his professionalism, how humble and self-deprecating he appeared to be, and yet how very talented he was! The music blew me away... not seen many people to compare with him since! Except the obvious.. Oh, and LOVE that one! "Everything ... gives you cancer...!!"
