Pharrell Williams "Frontin"

I loved this when it came out... The vocals are obviously Prince-inspired and the music sounds very MJ OTW-era.

I'm also quite a big fan of some of the tracks he's produced for Gwen Stefani.

Is there anything on the NERD albums as good as this song??

apparently pharell wrote the song for prince, but he turned it down

the first NERD album is the best, not a bad track on it, but provider is the closest track to frontin'. there are two versions of the album, the first used drum machines and the second used live instruments. you can only get the second version in stores these days. the second version is better

i saw justin timberlake sing this live with NERD and the black eyed peas did jay z's rap. JT came on as special guest with NERD at the mtv aftershow party and never left the stage, he took over pharells lead vocals for all the NERD tracks after doing 3 of his own hits. the band playing with NERD were the studio band for NERD and JT's first album. it was all impromptu too

I like this song, but I usually listen to the jazz version of this song done by Jamie Cullum

Are you familiar with his solo album In My Mind( and the Out Of My Mind version)?

Nice album, some great songs on it. People often criticize Pharell´s singing skills but I take it for what it is and quite like his singing. But then again, I also like Mos Def´s singing. lol

I just wish he was not rapping in his albums because that he cannot! As well as sing however she definitley SHOULD NOT rap...he is so much better in crafting a pop or r&b song.

In other news I just heard one of the tunes he did with Shakira "Why Wait". HAWT! Neptunes never fail me. Kind of sounds like "Give IT TO Me" but I like this one much better..alot more experiementation and lyrical arrangement is tight.

I love this song and "Frontin" as well. Both songs have an MJ Off the Wall vibe to me.
I've lost the use of my heart, But I'm still alive, Still looking for the life, The endless pool on the other side, It's a wild wild west, I'm doing my best, I'm a soldier of love, Every day and night, I'm soldier of love, All the days of my life.

nod Justin Timberlake's "Rock Your Body" (which Pharrell originally offered to MJ) also has an Off The Wall vibe.I think Michael made a mistake by rejecting that song.Pharell is very good at creating retro jams, capturing the sound and vibe of the past, while still sounding fresh and modern.
