Absolutely! I used to love this song!

Okay, I'm gonna flip it and reverse it... One of my favorite pieces of J5 trivia is the fact that actor Clifton Davis ("That's My Mama," "Amen") wrote "Never Can Say Goodbye."

Here's some more MJ trivia for ya...

The song "Beat It" was inspired by the 1979 song "My Sharona" by The Knack. That song was a favorite of Michaels',and he tried to write a rock song that had the same power and energy.

People flipped over MJ doing the moonwalk, but not people know that it was Jeffrey Daniels from Shalamar that taught Mike his pop-lock moves{including the moonwalk}.

U failed 2 mention that the BeeGees' Barry Gibb was also heavily involved in the production of "Eaten Alive", and u can hear his vocals on it as well.

Greg Phillinganes was also Michael's musical director during the Bad Tour and the Dangerous Tour. He's da man!

Wow, David, I didn't know that!

Then there's this...and (we probably all know this, but) the video was inspired by the movie "West Side Story".

***"Nighttime Lover" by LaToya Jackson (1980)---We all know that LaToya can't sing, but this song was great! I haven't heard it in decades, but I think the chorus goes somethihng like "Baby...save my soul tonight".

***"This Had To Be" by The Brothers Johnson (1980)---The Brothers Johnson played on Mike's 'Off The Wall' album so to return the favor,Michael gave them this song for their 'Light Up The Night' album. It's a fast, uptempo number with Michael singing along.

***"Eaten Alive" by Diana Ross (1985)---You can even hear Michael on the chorus, and he sings "You can rip my shirt, drag me in the dirt...I will be your slave, anything you say,but I don't ever wanna be...Eaten Alive!"

I knew that Barry Gibb and his brothers produced other songs from that album (including the second single "Chain Reaction"),but I didn't know that they had anything to do with the title track. Thanks for the info.

Rebbie is DEFINITELY the most talented Jackson sister. Also the most grounded of all the siblings since she was married and out of the family home before they became famous. Some of Rebbie's dancing on The Jacksons TV Show in the 70s was phenomenal. She's a MUCH better singer and dancer than Janet ever was or will be. It's a shame she didn't have much material or enough drive to break away like her baby sis.

She came to the UK to do some interviews about 5 years ago and she was looking STUNNING. She looks about 30 now and she's really 52.

52?? eek R U Sure?? Wow

I saw a recent picture of her from People's Magazine(2002) and the woman was,,,Oh my god, I can't believe she's 52.

She is definitely in her 50's...remember Michael will be 45 this year.

Does anyone have Jackie's solo project or Marlon's. I really liked both of the singles they had out. I think Jackie's was called "Stay" and I only remember Marlon's video...it was good. It's like no one gave the brothers a chance and they had so much talent as well.

I remember in 1987,Marlon did a solo album called 'Baby Tonight' which featured the singles "Don't Go" and the title track. Is that the one you're referring to?

Jackie Sang like a Ox Being Pimped Slap IMHO. Jackie had a Album out back in 1972 on Motown but His Voice was so Bad they dropped that idea.and then in 1989.Marlon had that One Album"baby Tonight"also did Production work for Betty Wright.I forgot what Album now.last time Marlon was suppose too drop something was back in the early 90's.he wanted too do a project with MC Hammer but it never materialized.when it comes too the Brothers in order of overall Talent it's Jermaine,Michael&Randy then Tito.Rebbie has the edge for the Sisters easily.

Jermaine is a One Man Band also the Cat brought Switch&Debarge on board too Motown&Played on Switch's Albums.remember Jermaine played Bass&Sung on stage with the Jackson 5 as a Kid.that is something else at any age too sing&Play Bass at the same time.Jermaine on Talent overall together with Michael&Randy are the 3 Baddest in the Family IMHO.Michael is easily the Better All-Around Artist in the Family when you add everything together but when it comes too Playing,Composing,Singing,etc... Jermaine&Randy are right there with Michael&that is nothing too frown upon.

Hate to break it to all the Jermaine lovers out there (which I guess includes myself) but both Clarence Paul (an arranger at Motown) and Frank Blair (a L.A. bassist who played with a few Motown acts including Marvin Gaye) have admitted that Jermaine played almost no bass, and certainly did not play well enough to play bass live with the group. Paul said that on numerous occasions watching J5 from backstage, Jermaine's bass cable wasn't even plugged in, just dragging around on stage.

The J5's bassist was actually Frank Blair during the early 70's tours. Blair and James Jamerson split bass duties on most of the recordings for Motown.

I'm not saying he couldn't play at all, or that he didn't get better later, but there WAS another bass player on the Victory Tour (Nathan East) performing bass parts simultaneously with Jermaine.

All I know is that Clarence Paul remembers being told by Berry Gordy to put together a band for the Jacksons and expressly forbade him from allowing Jermaine and Tito to play their instruments live because of their limited abilities.

Here's some more trivia about this song...

***You can hear The Weather Girls (former background singers for the late Sylvester) on the chorus of "Centipede".They're the ladies who are singing "I'm just crawling like a Centipede".

***For those of you who had the 45 of this song, remember the awesome song on the B-side? It was a lovely remake of Smokey Robinson's "A Fork In The Road".

I'm listening to the 12" version of Centipede right now! At 5:56 it's still too short! I love the intro, it's so industrial sounding and stuff. (I don't recall if it was part of the radio edit.)

I totally loved Rebbie Jackson's Centipede. I wish he would continue to produce music on different artists. I saw a bio on Janet Jackson and Rebbie is still kickin' it. She definitely has the best singing voice of her sisters, great stage presence and could have continued making some great albums. Jermaine Jackson was off the hook musically as well as Randy. I could never get into Marlon's voice, but he could dance his ass off.
