The audience was booing the judge whom gonged the act off. Australia is incredibly racist. We’re no more racist than America or any other country. We just don’t have the same history with black face. Most Australians wouldn’t have a clue why that would be offensive as there is just no history with it here.

I have a pet peeve with whites from other countries coming here and doing things obliviously, whether in statement or deed. They need their asses kicked, that way they'll know. Elvis might have spoiled his talent by acting in all those mediocre movies, but you should thank him for bringing rhythem and blues and rock and roll in the forefront in his first years. While MJ has always played it safe, the Beatles have showed guts by taking pop-music to a new level, they certainly werent expressing stupid disnyland-lyrics like MJ did, and their music is and was far more intelligent and authentic then anything MJ ever did. You can blame MJ for the shallow, bland superficiality of todays charts: Britney, Black Eyed Peas etc. Sound over substance, superficiality over depth. Oh dear lord in heaven please make Riverpoet disappear! Thank you in advance River, I know you aren't as dumb as many of your statements because you're just as often capable of great analysis. Michael did have the peter pan image but underneath all that glitz was a lot of shit, a lot of dark, dark shit. That to me, makes his music, in it's own way, more artistic in it's pop field than anyone else. He was so subversive, brilliant with it at his best, Billy Jean was a pristine pop song with lyrics so dark and paranoid that you'd wonder how the hell it could be a favorite of a pop audience. The dance, with it's obvious rage and sex spoke volumes about the true motivators behind his craft. Not every move he made or song he wrote was classic, but neither was anyone else's. As for naivety, Prince thought you could dance through Armageddon, and the Beatles thought "all you need is love" hows that for childlike fantasy? They are just artists, not meaning they have great in depth knowledge of politics, economics or even human nature, most of them are on the fringes of reality and that's where they get there potency from. How terrible it would be if we had to live in a world of pure drudgery. [Edited 10/8/09 3:21am]

No one went to America and did a black face performance or tried to rub it in your face. And why are you bringing up that history? I said Australia is no more racist then America, not that Australia isn’t racist or hasn’t had racist things that have happened in our history. But blackface isn’t one of them, so I’m explaining why no was offended by it here and why the host was shocked by the American guys reaction. You say you hate when white people from other countries go to your country and do things obliviously, well it’s just as annoying when Americans come to our country and act out the grievances they have from their country.

I didn't even watch the show, all I know is Connick would be remiss if he said nothing, he'd look stupid and he knew it. Don't know a thing about Australia other than they killed all the Aborigines and I've heard they treat women badly, I've also heard they were warm people, I wouldn't know it. But if I were to do something like that I would try to understand how it would be percieved, cultural things like that require homework otherwise misinterpretation is guaranteed everytime.

Why should Australians do ‘homework’ on American issues when you clearly have no interest in doing ‘homework’ on Australia, your comments on what you ‘heard’ about Australia shows just how hypocritical your attitude is. When they planned to do a Jackson 5 skit I doubt they were thinking, ‘I wonder what racial impact this will have on America’. They just wanted to a funny Jackson 5 skit.

Because Australia is not even close to being part of my world, american culture is global, just the way it is. I only met one or two aussie's in my life and can't think of anyone I look up to or despise from there, so why would I even think about the country? I may as well go study Kurdistan.

Also, I have no plans to ever go there and be on tv or in the media. Another point, Muhammad Ali went there and they called him "boy" (it's on youtube) Ali being ali just faked his anger but they thought he was serious and didn't understand it, people do and have gotten their asses whipped in this country for those kinds of slights. Can't expect them to know everything but shouldn't be totally ignorant of the stuff either. I'm sure boy is used in other ways in your country too so it shouldn't be that hard to get, we all speak english.

'Blacked Up' Michael Jackson Tribute Act Shock Australia October 2009 Michael Jackson tribute act has caused uproar in Australia after they sang a Jackson 5 medley with 'blacked up' faces. The controversial performance took place on an episode of the long-running variety TV show, Hey Hey It's Saturday. Four singers from the group, named The Jackson Jive, wore afro wigs and had black make-up on their faces, while the singer pretending to be Jackson had white make-up on. Guest judge US singer Harry Connick Jr was left shocked by the performance and said he would not have agreed to appear on the show had he known about the group. After giving them a zero score, he said: "On behalf of my country I know it was done humorously, but we’ve spent so much time trying to not make black people look like buffoons that when we see something like that we take it really to heart." Host Daryl Somers later apologised to Connick Jr, and said: “I know that to your countrymen, that's an insult to have a blackface routine." In an interview with Sky News, Somers also said sorry to any viewers who may have been offended, but added: “To most Australians I think it's a storm in a tea cup.” The Jackson Jive, which is fronted by plastic surgeon Dr Anand Deva, have also apologised over the performance. He told a Melbourne radio station: “Clearly, all of us want to apologise. I mean we have offended some people no doubt. “So I want to say on behalf of all of us that this was really not intended ... [to be] anything to do with racism at all.” Jackson died at the age of 50 in June. His death has been ruled as homicide. http://www.gigwise.com/ne...ia---VIDEO

MICHAEL JACKSON’S KIDS GO KUNG-FU FIGHTIN’
The Jackson kids were spotted going to a karate class in Los Angeles yesterday afternoon (October 7). Sporting their karate outfits, Paris Jackson and Blanket Jackson could be seen enthusiastically entering the building ready to punch, kick and elbow, but after an hour or so of butt-kicking, young Blanket was clearly left exhausted as he got a piggyback ride on the way out! Prince Jackson was also there — though only as an observer, not a participant. Meanwhile, in the neverending whirlwind of press coming from Michael Jackson siblings, big sis La Toya Jackson says the late pop icon was “like God.” The 53-year-old star insists MJ had divine qualities because of the way he tried to spread peace and love during his life, which was tragically cut short in June. Appearing on Britain’s Live From Studio Five, La Toya said: “Michael was very, very special and my mother would always say that, because he was. He was very different. I would always say, ‘He’s not God. But he’s so God-like.’ He really was God-like. He just wanted to spread love and share love and just do everything that was wonderful.” Now I am beginning to believe that Mike really had a black belt in this. "When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all."
