I'm back home this weekend for my 20th reunion and I remember that myself and four friends really wanted New Editions "Boys to Men" to be the song but it lost to Rod Stewart's "Forever Young" I still hate that song but this weekends parties are going to be great and so much big fun!

Oooh I know you were mad!
I've lost the use of my heart, But I'm still alive, Still looking for the life, The endless pool on the other side, It's a wild wild west, I'm doing my best, I'm a soldier of love, Every day and night, I'm soldier of love, All the days of my life.

I'd have to say Prince's "Condition of the heart", because my friends and I had a project to make. So made a video, trying to capture the lyrics and storyline on film. "...there was a girl in Paris, whom he sent a letter to..."

Single released in the fall of 1986. Great way to start senior year.

I used to watch this over and over, trying to learn the steps. It was popular the later part of my senior year (I graduated in 1986). But it was after high school that this song got really big. I was just obsessed with the video. I love the whole story line in it, The Time, and Ja'net Du'bois playing her mama! A true instant classic.

If you were in 5th grade in 1986, you're far from old.

Second, how does someone graduate from 5th grade? School's barley to the halfway point.

I usually don't feel old. However, seeing some of the songs that were out when these younger kids graduated, sort of makes me feel that way at the moment. lol

To answer your question, lot's of schools are K-5. So, you have a 5th grade graduation before going on to middle school, and then an 8th grade graduation before going to high school.

Although some schools are K-8 with no 5th grade graduation.

"The Greatest Love of All" was my graduation song from middle school in 1986, but it was the George Benson version. I remember it made me weep during practice. I don't recall having a song when I graduated from 5th grade. In my head tho from that day forward I associated Culture Club "Time (Clock of the Heart)" with it.
