I always thought this song had great lyrics.

You know, before there was AOR, Phil was doing this type of stuff:

razz

I dare you to watch it all the way through.

Sorry but this song has no soul, it's hated in the UK by alot of people, because Phil's morals are let's say two-faced.... sad
Da, Da, Da....Emancipation....Free..don't think I ain't..! London 21 Nights...Clap your hands...you know the rest..
James Brown & Michael Jackson RIP, your music still lives with us!

I tend to like Phil's solo stuff. I'm not a prog rock fan, and Genesis was definitely on that plane more times than not.

No Jacket Required is one of the best 80's pop/rock albums ever made. Phil's tours are usually pretty fun too. It's ashamed because of physical limitations he can't drum anymore.

lol

I just find it funny how oblivious the general public is to what Collins did in the 70s with Genesis. Sometimes they might have picked up something from the record store and gotten horrified. He just had two completely different sides to him, really.

To be honest, I think he gets a pass because he has proven to be a competent musician, and you certainly can't claim that the group wouldn't have had musical ambition. In that sense, you can also understand why he later wanted to do just straightforward pop music - it's quite typical for some individuals who have dabbled in the past with more sprawling musical forms. You know, you don't feel too shamed about it. wink

Once you've done this for a decade, I think it's okay to make a bunch of albums with really cheesy AOR shit on it.

Collins was never AOR LOL. More MOR, but theres often a thin line between AOR and MOR to me anyway.

I like hearing David Crosby's vocals on "another day in paradise". Nice touch. The riff is so simple, yet so damn catchy LOL. After Genesis's "Invisible touch" album (which was not all pop like many assume it was), he did become mainly MOR, but I still love that later stuff though. "Do you remember?" "Colours" "Heat on the street" etc...

I like all the major prog acts from the late 60's early 70's (King Crimson, Yes and inparticular ELP), but could never get into Genesis. "Selling England by the pound" is a good prog album though. Havn't heard the 2 tracks you posted Novabrkr, but I think I got enough prog for now. May invest in more Genesis in the future though.
