Chic - The Guitar and Bass interplay of Niles and 'Nard

...

Bernard Edwards and Nile Rodgers of Chic seemed to have a supernatural sense of interplay with each other - I just love the way they would lock into a rhythm!

Their album Take It Off didn't have the classic Chic Strings, but it also put more focus on the rythmic interplay between Nile, Nard, and powerhouse drummer Tony Thompson....

Stage Fright

Burn Hard

One of the best band!!!
Tony's drumming is awesome (ask Bowie ...).

Are there any live recordings of CHIC circa '77-'83 aside from their appearance on The Midnight Special?

Here's a groovy one (done about a year later) that doesn't get much attention...

...Soup For One featuring 'Nard on vocals.

Another deeper Chic cut (that I believe also features Bernard on vocals and Nile on acoustic for the outro) is You Can't Do It Alone

It's a crime that the 12" inch single isn't at least 7:00 minutes long, I hate that they cut it right when Nard and Tony are gettin' into that second Bass/Drum breakdown! Take It Off is my cut off that album too, Tony is killin' shit on them drums on that cut.

I loved Nile's guitar solo at the end Al Jarreau's tune, Golden Girl:

Al Jarreau: Golden Girl

And of course, the classic Chic Instrumental, Savoir Faire:

He & Roger Troutman could go at it when it comes to rhythm guitar and BOTH will come out winning music
