The Jackson 5ive were more than just puppets at Motown.

They had some input in the music. From the booklet of Hello World.

The magic of creative sharing between the Jacksons and their producers gave the music a distinct sound and style that continued to develop over the years. Each brother contributed his own musical taste.

Marlon was constantly persuading the producers to use dance arrangements, since that was the national trend...Jackie was into tasteful arrangements, and keen on production tricks of the trade...Jermaine could always be seen in the studio, influencing the bass player with his own patters and sound...Tito loved to work with new and biting guitar licks and sound...then there was MICHAEL

MICHAEL JACKSONS's originality confirms him as a living musical prophet for hope, desire and achievement.

Marvin Gaye, Diana Ross, Smokey Robinson, Stevie Wonder and Martha Reeves also had input in re-arranging harmonies, vocals and musicianship too. It's just the material that the Jackson 5 were uncomfortable with over time.

Everyone knows Motowns history and the story. In a book, I remember Mike saying he had input in Lookin Through the Windows.

Love them!
I've lost the use of my heart, But I'm still alive, Still looking for the life, The endless pool on the other side, It's a wild wild west, I'm doing my best, I'm a soldier of love, Every day and night, I'm soldier of love, All the days of my life.

They just aired the Soul Train episode from 1971 on Centric (formerly BETJ) with the J5 and Jermaine. It was interesting to hear their interview with Don and saying how they felt about their current project. Also on Randy coming into the group. It airs again Friday at 10am.

I think once CENTRIC takes off next week, we will see more classic "Soul Train". The J5 episode was a sneak preview.

It's already launched. I think they will just show a different ST episode every week. For now, they are running some original programming. I've seen Inside MJ's Mansion, and another show based around MJ that featured his ABC interviews from the late 70s and 80s.

Everything else has been left over MTV and VH1 programming. The Salt-N-Pepa Show, Run's House and some Notorious BIG documentary are running heavily this week.

According to the website (http://www.centrictv.com/), they are creating some new shows.

Keeping Up With The Joneses
Keeping up with the Joneses is not as easy as it seems! Follow founder Tracey Ferguson, an attractive, fashionista entrepreneur, as she builds Jones Magazine - an upscale magazine targeting affluent African American women in Houston high society.

Model City
For the men of Red Model Management, making it as a high-fashion model is not just a dream, it's a struggle. Set in New York City, Model City captures the intensity of trying to make it as an African American male model.

Urban Livin'
Renowned interior decorator and event planner Helen Bailey hosts this fun, energetic and stylish home decorating series. When it comes to decorating, home improvement, in-home entertaining, home buying and organizing, Urban Livin' has the answer!

Real Life Divas
Viewers can take a step inside the lives of today's most fascinating women of our time through Real Life Divas. Watch how these outstanding women impact the world artistically, socially, commercially and politically, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of both family and fans.

Leading Men
Leading Men gives viewers a look into the private lives of today's leading black male role models. Hear what they have to say about success, life and love as they share what and who inspires them and their hopes for the future.

They are also reairing the Soul Train Awards starting in November.

Yeah I know that, lol. But they still have BETJ programming or had it for a minute when I saw "Soul Sessions". According to Andy, "Soul Sessions" featured a whole lot of Patti, lol

Yeah, they are still mixing up the programming. I saw the Caribbean rhythms show last night.

Maybe they are just merging the programming. I hope it turns out good. I'm not a big fan of Tv One.

That's a good possibility but hopefully no more sitcoms, I want more shows on music history. nod

i thought one of the best j5 albums was the dancing machine album. not only the title track, but one of the great underrated (by some) j5 tracks, is 'i am love'. i have it on my ipod. it *still* sounds good after all these years.

Looking through the Windows was my first memories of the J5 and the song is more poignant now than ever.

The Jackson family is so talented. They had The Jackson 5, Michael Jackson, and Janet Jackson, even Rebbie and Latoya had some good music.
