Did anyone see The Jackson 5 on "Soul Train" this evening on BET J?

Apparently BET J must be changing into a new network called Centric which was down in the bottom right hand corner of the screen. Anyway, they played a 1971 episode of "Soul Train" this evening in it's entirety featuring The Jackson 5 and Jermaine Jackson as a solo artist. Did anyone see it?

I saw parts of it. Yeah they done changed their name to CENTRIC. I think they're regularly airing Soul Train... so I may have to tune in...

Can anyone tell me the name of the song that's about to come on either now or after the J5 perform Corner of the Sky? It was Funky as an unwashed navel.

I hope it's going to be a regular thing but I'm scared it might just be for tonight since they have been promoting it as Michael Jackson Day. They just got finished showing a one hour show on the mansion he was in when he died. I've searched online and I can't find a schedule for the network and the BET J site doesn't have anything updated.

It's regular, just not right away. It won't premier in the regular schedule until about some time in mid October.

That's an extemely old episode. The only songs I recognized that were played for the dancers were "Papa Was A Rolling Stone" by The Temptations and "The Babysitter" by Betty Wright. And the theme music for "Soul Train" is a trip. It sounds like one of the old slow 1960s songs. Funny hearing a slow song with the cartoon train going down the tracks. lol I've never seen that set either. I wonder if it is from Chicago before they moved to Los Angeles.

I've never heard it. I was only 4 years old in 1971 and the only thing I was listening to was "Old McDonald Had A Farm". lol

Apparently, the song must have not gotten much airplay after it lived it's heyday. Too bad Mr. Soulpower isn't watching this evening. This is definately his favorite era.

I saw one episode of "Fame" earlier right before they aired "Soul Train" for the first time this evening. Looks like I'm gonna have to go to the store and buy some more blank DVDs.

I was asleep earlier but when I woke up and turned on the TV, they were playing Patti LaBelle videos. But they were late 80s and 90s videos that have been worn out over the years. If they want to do something different, they need to play early 80s videos or "promo clips" as they were called back then, and show more 1970s stuff. The late 80s and 90s have been absolutely worn out and everyone had VCRs back then and would have recorded that stuff if they wanted it. VCRs were too expensive in the early 80s and 1970s so a lot of that stuff hasn't been seen in years.

Then I flipped back over later and they were doing an interview with Patti LaBelle. I think it was their "Divas" series. Hell, that stuff has been worn out too and they only interviewed the hugest stars that have been worn out over the years. Hell, interview somebody like The Barkays or Lakeside that hasn't been worn out and people haven't seen in years.

They said the station will be like this until late in the year (beside Soul Train debuting full time in a few weeks.) The station is airing earlier than originally planned so nothin' is ready yet. For the next two months or so, it will be lots of Run's House, Workin with Diddy and the Sal N Pepa Show and the series that were already on BET J.

Than, they will put on lots of promotion in time when the station was originally supposed to debut.

YEah, I don't think BET J played Runs House and the likes. Just like 8 hours of Soul Sessions, American Gangster, Steve Harvey Show and Timeless.

The syndicated version of Soul Train from LA debut Oct. '71. In Chicago you got to watch the in color synidcated version of the show on CBS channel 2 and the "original" Soul Train on WCIU channel 26.... in black & white. eek

I missed it mad
I've lost the use of my heart, But I'm still alive, Still looking for the life, The endless pool on the other side, It's a wild wild west, I'm doing my best, I'm a soldier of love, Every day and night, I'm soldier of love, All the days of my life.

I think it might be the one from 81' or 82' that was showed on "Best Of Soul Train" back in 2007.
