It sounds like the type of song that Helen Reddy or Olivia Newton-John would have recorded.I love it music Beautiful melody and arrangement.

Even today, it's hard to believe that it was released in 1975. This would've be a hit within the 1960's. So Motown-ish. cool

I have her 'Lead Me On' album on vinyl.I bought it a few years ago.I was expecting it to be a ballad-heavy affair (like the hit single) but it's actually very uptempo and disco-y.The title track is not an indication of what the rest of the album sounds like.

nod

This song gives me mid-60s vibe too,,,,I've always wondered how would it sound like had Dionne sang it 10 years earlier.

Now you've got me wanting to track the album down. The album cover itself just screams disco.

You would like her album. It's mostly uptempo."Lead Me On" actually sounds out of place.

It's funny...in 1979,Anita Ward released her album, containing the big hit "Ring My Bell".Unfortunately, the rest of her album is filled with ballads. It's not the big disco party that you would expect. But then you have Maxine, releasing a slow ballad ("Lead Me On") as the first single from her album, which is filled with uptempo disco tracks....lol....it's exactly what we were expecting from Anita.

I was very disappointed with the rest of Anita Ward's album and also with the rest of Amii Stewart's album too. I was expecting those two albums to be jam packed full of disco like Donna Summer's albums.

I have the album on vinyl but I also have this song on a 70s compilation CD called "Super Hits of the 70s:Have A Nice Day,Volume 25".This particular volume focuses primarily on 1979.That was an amazing year for music!

Besides "Knock On Wood", everything else is slow except for her disco remake of "Light My Fire" which is simply decent.

What's up with these ladies? They have a massive disco jam on their album, but they fill the rest of the album with sappy, slow songs?! disbelief I don't get that strategy.

That's the very reason why I bought very few albums from female artists when I was growing up. I bought a ton of 45s from female artists but I knew the males, especially the groups, were going to deliver an album full of jams with maybe only one or two good slow jams.

These aren't good ballads. They're generic. They're what a lot of orgers like to call "filler".

I saw her on a PBS special a few years ago performing "Get Right Back Where We Started From". She still looks great but now she's got some great big titties hanging down like watermelons. Or was that the lady that was singing "Band Of Gold" on the same show? lol Anyway, Maxine was on there too.

I don't think she had any major hit singles after "Lead Me On".I saw her several years ago on one of those PBS-TV concerts, where she was on a bill with numerous R&B artists and bands from the past. She looks great.

Oh,I have no problem with sappy, schmaltzy ballads. But balance it out! For every slow song, let's have a hot disco jam too lol With the exception of "Ring My Bell" and "Make Believe Lovers",Anita's album is a snoozefest.
