I refute the "cheesy" characterization. karen Carpenter is the original goth. The dichotomy of the blissfully happy music against the backdrop of tragic and heartbreaking lyrics makes this duo one of my most favorite musical acts of all time 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

And vice-versa... Happy lyrics with a terrifying staccato Bach prelude, replacing Cole Porter's original arrangement, in a live mash-up of classical and contemporary. My second favourite Carpenters track.

Yeah she definitely seemed emo/goth-like for some reason. Maybe that's why I can relate to her, I'm not a goth or emo but her lyrics are REAL, lol Or at least her voice makes those lyrics real, you know?

Not a fan (not a fan of hardly any soft rock/MOR 70's pop to be fair), but I do rate Richard Carpenters at times gorgous production and supurb harmonies. I dug a few things he produced in the late 80's aswell, which may not be nearly as famous of the Carpenters stuff, but he could still produce a good song or 2.

The woman had such a lovely voice. And yes, she was a drummer as well. I have a lot of respect for her talent. I've lost the use of my heart, But I'm still alive, Still looking for the life, The endless pool on the other side, It's a wild wild west, I'm doing my best, I'm a soldier of love, Every day and night, I'm soldier of love, All the days of my life.
