Britney Spears announced today on her official Website that she’ll release a new best-of set, The Singles Collection, on November 24th, just in time for Black Friday.


The greatest hits compilation — the second in Spears’ decade-long career — will feature the brand new first single “3.” The track, produced by Swedish pop mastermind Max Martin, the brains behind “… Baby One More Time” and “If U Seek Amy,” is scheduled to premiere on radio September 29th.


The Singles Collection will be available in two editions, as Standard and Ultimate Fan Box Set versions. The Standard boasts 17 of Spears’ biggest songs (plus “3″) on one disc, while the Ultimate Fan edition crams all 29 of Spears’ singles into a box set complete with an additional B side or remix, a DVD featuring all of Spears’ music videos in chronological order and a special booklet of iconic Britney images and “fun facts” about the songs on the collection.



Spears last released a best-of compilation in 2005 with Greatest Hits: My Prerogative, and followed that up with a 2006 remix collection called B in the Mix: The Remixes. While My Prerogative came at the midway point of Brit’s now-decade-long career, Spears has only released two albums since then: 2007’s Blackout and 2008’s Circus.

Wow, she's got more greatest hits albums than most artists who have been out longer than a decade and have more albums than her. I realize that she just released two new albums, but c'mon now they didn't have that many great songs on just those two albums to warrant another greatest hits album soo soon. I think she's wanting to take a long hiatus (hopefully retire ) so she can focus on being a mom; in which case, Go Britney, I support you in that dream because it's my dream too. Anyone who can last for 10 years relying mostly on an over-sexed image, lip-syncing, and other people writing and producing 95% of your catalog definitely gets some props from me whether I like them or not. Britney's a hustler because she could probably sell a pair of dirty socks with holes to some of her obsessed fans...hell, she probably already has considering one of those mental cases actually bought her half-eaten corn dog off of eBay a few years ago . Ms. Spears, when it comes to the hustler game; I salute you...make your paper, boo boo.

Honestly this is a cool release, at this point the industry has to take advantage of the loyals, and this will fly to collectors and to her base, just like the madonna best of and best of dvd with 50 vids on it will fly out to the loyals, its easy cash for the labels, without real investment in doing new recordings and shoots.

I most def think Brit deserves this. It's not like she puts out crappy music (IMHO)

She has 1 out already and 1 on the way. The one already out wasn't very comprehensive and a lot of countries missed out on certain tracks, it was basically thrown together in a rush because it was obvious she was losing interest at that stage. This collection is incredibly extensive and also features all of her videos as well as the new song, b sides and remixes.



I won't be getting it, I've seen a lot of fans saying they'll pass on it, too. But I'm sure for casual listeners or new fans, it's a great way to get into her back catalog.

I like the lyrical arrangement however the chorus leaves much to be desired...as usual with her newer tracks for some odd reason.

Just in time too, she needs something to make up for her thus far terrible shows here in Oz. Hundreds fled her lip syncing concert in Perth within 30 minutes and demanded their money back.
