I just love Soul train line classics Lawd have mercy, I just love me some soul train! The bell bottoms, the wedged-heeled shoes, fishnet stockings, the 5 to 6 inch heels, tube tops, puffed-sleeved tops, halter tops, knickers, two/three tone colored jeans and jackets, leather jackets, outfits, polyester shirts and vests, plaid pants, midriff tops, headbands and beads, big bangle bracelets, blazers, the dancing, embroidered jeans, the music, and most of all the big 'fros!.. ...love it, just crazy, plain old fun and real music!

And who could forget this crazy bitch right here. She would always do her little shake and twirl around. It used to trip me out every week when she would be at the back of the stage doing her little twirl and stradling on top of one of those humps. I like to immitate her ass when I get drunk.

And don't forget about this guy. Me and a friend of mine call him "Miss Shake Your Shimmy" because that bitch was always doing the shake. Hell, my grandmother saw his ass on TV once and said "Lord have mercy, he looks like he's trying to shake hot ashes out of his pants".

I loved watching the reruns of ST (i wish they bring it back ). My most favorite time periods to watch were from 1979-1984. I liked some of the episodes of later seasons too. I was born in '86 but I remember some episodes back when I was 3 while New Jack Swing was in heavy rotation. I've been a fan since I was a little girl and everytime Cheryl would come on I would put a black towel on my head and pretend I was her while imitating her dance moves .

Wow vain, you sure brought back memories. All the real music, with real musicians. I don't think we'll ever get that back again. I remember the Asian girl dancer, and there was another chick, a tall, Black female, who got up on stage when James Brown performed on Soul train, and was doing her usual dance. You couldn't miss her, because she was very tall and had very, long legs.I love watching old soul train clips.
New York is going to have a soul train event for the longest Soul train line in Summer of 2010. My son told me about it and I'm definitely going to be there to see that happen, and just may participate! I might need a wheelchair after that, since I'm not in my 20s, but what's a little fun? I love all the fashion, dances, hairdos during that era. Soul train was in a class all by itself. The soul train line has been passed on to family events, like reunions, parties, weddings, you name it. We did that at my sister's wedding in August of 2009. My family is having another reunion, (2 more to be exact, we can't help it.. ) in 2010, "just because" and you can bet we will be doing the soul train line there once again. Speaking of Cheryl here's a recent article I found a few months ago around MJ's death. (Sorry if this has been posted before).
http://www.tsa.gov/weekly...shtm#news4 LAX Employee Had Role in Jackson Learning the Moonwalk By Nico Melendez, Office of Strategic Communications/Public Affairs The news of Michael Jackson's untimely death was particularly upsetting for one TSA employee. Cheryl Song, executive assistant to FSD Larry Fetters at Los Angeles International Airport, knew and worked with the "King of Pop." "I knew Michael in the early 80s when I danced on Soul Train," she said. "He asked me to dance in his Beat It video. "After meeting privately with Michael, I put him in touch with some of my male counterparts to help him learn the Moonwalk." Cheryl Song (top row, third from left) stands next to Michael Jackson. Photo courtesy of Cheryl Song Though she has not danced professionally for years, Song's popularity from her time with the Soul Train Dancers lives on. When VH1 recently interviewed her for a documentary on Soul Train, she said, "It was a great chance to catch up with old friends and remember a special time." Song can be seen in the opening bar scene of the Beat It video and also appeared in Rick James' Superfreak video. She also helped choreograph a Lionel Richie performance on Saturday Night Live and toured Japan and the U.S. with Soul Train.

[Edited 9/24/09 6:58am] That event in New York sounds like it's going to be a ball. However, ONLY if they play old songs. If they play current songs, it won't be the Soul Train line, it will be more like the waltz line. People form Soul Train lines at high school reunions also. A few years ago, I went to a class reunion with a friend of mine who went to a predominately black school. Now, THAT was a class reunion. They had spiked the punch and everyone was going back and forth to their cars to get a little sip of something since alcohol wasn't allowed in the building. The next thing I knew, the DJ was playing a megamix that included Rick James' "You And I" with Prince's heavy breathing on "Sexy Dancer" layered on top of it. A Soul Train line had formed and everyone was truly throwing down. I didn't go to any of my own class reunions because I already know how dead those folks are. I went to school in the suburbs and there was only about a 20% black population in the school back then. But a friend of mine went and she told me about it the next day. Those dead asses had no alchohol whatsoever and the entertainment for the evening was karake. Oh, hell naw! What the hell did they think they were going to, "American Idol"? It was in late November that year and she said those folks kept singing "Grandma got ran over by a motherfucking reindeer" all night long. . . . Cheryl was one of my favorites too. So was Rosie Perez. Here she is.... She's dancing a little better in that clip but I never cared for dancing too much. She had the right moves but her body just seemed stiff like a white girl when she did them. Her moves also seemed to be practiced and choreographed looking like Janet Jackson's moves. I prefer more loose and spontaneous moves like Neicy Payne in the second clip I showed. She would roll those hips and titties to perfection the way these folks down here in Mississippi dance, including my own whorish self. See, the key is, you got to roll that ass like you got a dick in your pussy (or imaginary pussy if that's the case ). Roll them titties and roll that ass like you're working a swivel stick.
