RENE & ANGELA----Any fans??? Speak up!

I have their debut self-titled vinyl but since they remastered the CD I figured what the hell?? I might as well buy that funky shit.

Their 1st LP is the type of album that you should listen 2 from the start 2 the end. My sistah bought the vinyl once it released(That means b4 I was born lol) and still she can't get enough of it. Hell, who could blame the woman wink

Angela Winbush was another Patrice Rushen but unlike Patrice, she had(She still have) a funky soulful Chaka Khan-esque voice, even Stevie hired her as a backround vocalist 4 his LPs. Not only that, she's also a very good keyboardist and producer as well(She co-produced Janet's 1st LP with her potna Rene Moore) speaking of which, Rene produced couple tracks in the Histroy LP from MJ.

Who could 4get sexy slow jam groove "My 1st Love"(Later covered by Keke & Avant) or the funky #s "Wall 2 Wall", "Turn It Out" & "Bangin' The Boogie" and most of all who could 4get the beautiful dreamy mellow shit "Imaginary Playmates".

Its a shame that Rene is ending his friendship with his sistah friend by suing her sad oh well who cares??

Show love everybody biggrin

They wrote Odyssey's "Inside Out" right? :Hmm:

I own the re-mastered CD. I bought it for "Imaginary Playmates." I also like "I Love You More", but nothing does it for me like "Your Smile" off "A Street Named Desire". I love Angela's voice.

I luuuv Angela Winbush... and she and Rene put out some nice jams. One of my favorite was "You Don't Have to Cry."

Rene did more than end his friendship with Angela. Heard reports that he was physically abusive in their relationship sad so they did not part ways on good terms.

tight as Keyboard Players both are.Rene was Pimping that Booty&Angela went on board with Ron Isley before He became MR.Bigg.I remember that early Album when there Keyboards looked like a Big Oven standing up.since splitting up they both have stayed in Demand.Rene Moore did stuff on Michael Jackson's Albums"Dangerous"&"History" Respectively.Angela did Solo Projects&also Isley Brother related stuff. She split with ROn Mr Bigg Isley&Is doing a Gospel Album last I heard.such a shame they couldn't make it last as Musicians together because they were tight back in the day.

Yea. I like this duo...but to me..Angela got down on the solo tip real hard. She made two great albums Sharp and The Real Thing that were good. Also, Angela was very much in demand as a producer in the late 80's. I love this woman's voice. I reached in my collection and pulled out 'The Real Thing" a few days ago and gave it a spin. The slow jams on this album ain't nothing to PLAY WITH. "Lay Your Troubles Down" with Mr. Big aka Ronald Isley, "Bring Your Love Back Home "and especially "Precious" are blazing!!! I think "Precious" from this album is the best thing she has ever done. Angela has a knack for strucuring her songs with beautiful chord and melodic changes. Mercury Records defintitely should have released "Precious" as a single in 89'.

The sista is bad {and she's great to look at to boot}.I remember her singing "I've Learned To Respect The Power Of Love" LIVE{as in no lip-synching} on Soul Train.

Word?? That is sooo Ike & Tina. Hell, its always Ike & Tina when you see 2 potnas(Male & Female) who're FUNKY they're 2ghether and lose the funky sparkle when they seperate from each other.

Call me stupid, but I don't OWN ANY CD from Angela since she went solo simply becoz I 'think' she lost that sparkle and the funkieness in her voice/work. Aahh whateva I can't xplain this, all I'm saying is she used to be good when she was with Rene thats all.

Damn, I used to be not too fond of Rene but now I hate him.
