That's the one Beatles song (well, maybe "Taxman" as well) that gets me up and dancing as soon as it's played. Every time. Plus, the energy during that bridge!

In no particular order:

1. Eleanor Rigby
Great melodious pop-songwriting, lovely chamber-musique arrangement.

2. I am the wallruss
One of their best psychedelic songs, broody, dreamlike. Again, splendid use of orchestra.

3. Here comes the sun:
George Harrison in Byrds-like mode. The title perfectly fits the breesy, summery sound.

4. Blackbird:
Keeping it simple sometimes works great (in that sense it reminds me of their earlier song Yesterday).

5. Tomorrow never knows:
Another intoxicating piece of psychedelic pop. Ringo was really ahead of his time with his drumming on this song: just listen to those 'Madchester'-bands from the nineties, like the Stone Roses and The Happy Mondays.

6. The long and winding road:
Almost sentimental, but in a good way. Paul's songwriting and delivery is just too strong, and Phil Spectors arrangement just too good (there is a certain 'bleakness' to it, dont know how to describe it better) to prevend this one from becoming 'sappy', like many covers of this song turn out to be.

7. Strawberry fields forever:
Another psychedelic 'hit'. I really dig Lennon's singing / melody lines.

8. Norwegian Wood:
Simply a perfect, little (folky) popsong. The sitar adding a nice extra touch.

9. Within You, Without You
The sitar in full mode now, giving this song a lovelyotherworldly, mysterious vibe. Intriguing lyrics by Harrison too.

10.Across the Universe
I guess i am a sucker for 'psychedelic Beatles'. I love those 'typical' melody lines by Lennon (especially in the verses).

Wow. Me and you have complete opposite music tastes (from what I have picked up from your posts on the org), yet we both can come together so to speak on a few Beatles songs. Proof The Beatles can cater to any music lover, no matter what other tastes in music one may have.
