Listen to Amy Winehouse's goddaughter, wow!

Amy has started her own record label and it's first release will be from her 13 year old niece, who sounds much like Amy. I LOVE Amy and pray that she's well and comes back with an awesome album of her own.

Here is a link that has a video with samples of some of the songs on the girl's record:

That's not her niece-that is goddaughter.

Oh. The record label is an imprint of Island Records. I thought for a minute that she'd ploughed all her own money into this until I just Googled and checked.

I worry about Amy Winehouse. I'm glad that this is just a vanity label and not her own business. Could you imagine her single-handedly running a record label? It'd be bedlam.

She has alot of Godmama Amy's inflections when she sings. She's a cute lil roundface kid.

Impressive.

That is NOT the voice of a 13 year old.

I just pre-ordered the CD at Amazon, but since it's an import, it's $30 right now. They will adjust the price if it's lower by the time it ships. I'm happy to support this endeavor, she's got 'it'!

Ok 1) She can SANG. BUT-she is 13 and still developing. There is so much Amy in her voice it is hard to tell how much is her and how much Amy

2) 13 is way too young for a kid to enter the business. I don't think it is healthy and in some shots in that video, Dionne looked rather uncomfortable

Cute kid. Great voice. Hope being in the business doesn't ruin her. Glad that there is some attempt to promote people who can actually sing and not just because they are good looking.

13 too young? Not necessarily. When I was a kid we had 13 year olds that really appealed towards the tween/teen market, and they fared just fine, although they only recored for a short time. Stacy Lattisaw is an example that comes to mind. We used to sing her songs in 4th grade riding home on the school bus everyday wink ...I believe some members of New Edition were in the 13-14 year age range, and when we were kids, we loved them too. I think the main concern lies in how the child will be marketed and what's her target audience. Celine Dion had her debut at 12, and she's come out to be relatively normal after entertaining for 27 years. I think it just makes a tremendous difference who the guardians and protectors around these kids are, and then they have a decent chance of coming out with all their eggs intact instead of 2 short of a dozen and crazy as hell.

It's amazing that someone who barely shows up for her own shows has been able to mentor a child. lol

She is very talented and I wish her success.

I do have a hard time buying music sung by children regardless of vocal ability.
I know it's my own "thing", but coming from a child I just can't believe the songs no matter how well they are sung.
I hope they keep her in the tween/teen market until she is older.

I agree.

Anyway, it's about time for another tweeny bopper to show up to give the kiddies something to sing about while they daydream in math class. After Miley Cyrus's hotpance dance with the pole on top the ice cream cart...I think she might be itching to move towards an older audience lol

hmm I'm trippin' that someone would ask Amy to be their kid's godmother! smile

But she sounds awesome. It'll be cool to see her develop mastery of her voice and style.

There are YouTube videos of Amy sitting in a radio station, with just a guitarist, singing during a live broadcast...I think it was AOL Live or something like that. I was thinking about how there aren't too many of today's singers that can do that.
