Whats up BGZ. I heard your song and its a great tribute to your father. I absolutely love your guitar playing. Its smokin brah. I must say as much as I record as well, You've got major balls to share your song on the org and face ridicule. I'd love to do the same but i'm not ready to do that yet too sensitive with my material. I'll just stick to the Bay area. Hey let me know when you plan to release a cd. I've got a few buddies that have radio programs every Thursday here in the Bay Area...I'm sure you've copyrighted your stuff. I'd be glad to pass it on to them and surprise them with your guitar playing... Hey man from one muscian to another I support u 100%...continued success.

Thank you VERY much. Yes, all my stuff is copyrighted. That would be a very nice gesture.

Very cool show, Mr. SP. TOTALLY was digging my man Shuggie's Freedom Flight. Foster's Misdemeanor was killin' too. That's such a coldblooded groove. I've always loved that song. Very cool you playing The Watts 103rd Street Rythmn Band. Ray Jackson, who worked a lot with my father and who's on my dad's o.g. version of "Standing At The Crossroeads" along with James Gadson, is on this as well. Ray and James both played in this band before they started working with my father and then with Bill Withers. There were some jams on here that I had never heard before that were sho nuff bangin' as well.

To be fair, I didn't play last night's show. It was my co-host Mr. Felty all by himself.

I'm a bit late but that doesnt matter when talking about BlackguitaristZ! Reading his posts about Prince in the P:M&M section you think yourself, "Man, can this guy get any cooler?" and then you get hit with this and find out he can rip just as good as P! He's more than just a guitar-slinger tho, dude is a phenomenally talented artist and should be gracing the covers of magazines and getting endorsements like the likes of people such as Larry Mitchell, Joe Bonomassa and more! If I could take guitar lessons from someone, or chill with an orger for a day, it'd be him cool
chill..prince doesnt like men being front row, makes it hard to sing the ballads

I know I'm a bit late, but I just checked out Chris's version of "Standing At The Crossroads" today. The feel is very different from the original. I loved the vocals, very open and vulnerable. I liked the guitar solo and totally dug the spoken part. All in all, a very good cover, and an excellent tribute.

I actually didn't have to change my screen name. I just wanted to smile
I created my account years ago, when I was still a kid. Yes, I am still quite young, I'm not denying that, but I have grown as a person during the past couple of years. I felt like this new screen name better reflects my personality nowadays smile. As for my previous screen name, I have to say, I didn't really like the random capitalization of the letters (FuNkeNsteiN). I got into some arguments on here, and I used to post pointless stuff on threads about artists I don't even like. I occasionally wandered over to Prince: Music & More to taunt the, well, more narrowminded Prince followers.
As I no longer feel the need to do any of that, I felt like I wanted to get a fresh start. So now, I just try to concentrate on posting about what really matters, the music.

On this week's Midnight Soulstice, we invite you to the third volume of our series The World's Best Funk DJs. This time, we take you across the Pacific Ocean to Japan. If you go to Nippon looking for Funk, you will eventually run into Daisuke Kuroda, known as the country's top Funk DJ.

Daisuke started his carrier as DJ in 1997, but he has been a dedicated collector of rare Soul and Funk vinyl for much longer. In 2000, he started Nippon's leading Deep Funk club event series Searching in Tokyo along with Lincoln (Legendary Deep Funk) and Yusuke Ogawa (Universounds).

Daisuke is well known among collectors and DJs worldwide, who rate him among the best, but few outside of this circle have heard his name, for one simple reason - he doesn't fly. Because of his fear of airplanes, Daisuke missed out on many invitations to DJ on all continents. Instead, he distributes his own mix CD series Kickin', of which he has recently released the 4th volume.
Midnight Soulstice co-host DJ Pari has played with Daisuke various times in Japan, and we're happy that Daisuke followed our invitation to put together a mix for our show.

Enjoy his selection of slammin' vintage Funk and Soul - Nippon style! This is a very, serious mix that will blow your mind!!

Tune in this Friday from 11 pm until 1 am Eastern at www.wrir.org
