On the real tip, in the eyes of the majority of America, Michael Jackson was a Black boy with enormous talent that was weird, strange, bizarre, odd, eccentric, lived out side of his means (i.e. a multi-millionaire that accumulated debt as if he were a multi-billionaire). Additionally he around his later twenties started to develop a desire to alter who and what he was, i.e. skin bleaching, major facial plastic surgeries, a strong penchant for little boys, porno (movies and books), old ass Hollywood White female film stars, etc.
He even seemed to denounce his ethnic heritage by changing his very Negroid feature to appear to be of Caucasoid origin. Furthermore never father any Back kids, instead having Whites make kids for him and he took them as his own.
His seemingly odd behavior resulted in his talent taking a backseat to whispers, innuendos and water cooler chatter.
Many A-list stars may want to salute his legacy of music, but not the man himself.
He couldn't even get a proclamation passed on the floor of the US House in Congress honoring him.
Sometimes a person's fame is overshadowed by their infamy.
Jackson's musical legacy should be left alone. Just let it go Jermaine, Janet, LaToya and all the rest.
Each of the siblings is making more money now than ever in his death. As a result of his passing, the artist royalties, the mechanical royalties, the performing rights royalties and merchandising is reaping great benefits for every member of The Jackson 5, The Jacksons and each solo endeavor. Even Joe Jackson, whom was once their manager gets a cut from his managerial share under the old contracts.
Michael left 40% of estate to his mom, Katherine. Well since Joe and Katherine are still very much married (she is opposed to divorce due to her being a Jehova’s Witness), Michael's worst nightmare could come true - if his mom passes before Joe, he will get 50% (the spousal share) and the other 50% of her portion will be divide equally amongst her children (Rebbie, Jackie, :Latoya, Jermaine, Tito, Marlon, Janet and Randy). Those three little Caucasian kids that he flaunted around as his get 40% divided by 3, so feel no sorrow for them, not a drop of Jackson blood flows through them and they are rich as all get out.
Moving on...we have wars, poverty, the need for health care nationally, a recession, an assault on civil rights all over again, horrific rates of unemployment, Black on Black violence at all time highs, a pandemic of swine flu, and other pressing concerns - Michael Jackson's death, his legacy and tribute shows cannot 'heal the world', or even America!

And you completely forgot that MJ was a humanitarian. The guy donated 350 millions to charity, visited orphanages and hospitals frequently, saved 45 millions of people in Africa with "We Are The World", helped thousands and thousands of kids around the globe, saved Little Richard from misery and much more.
Brett Ratner says. "He was the most inspirational person in my life. His one dream was to cure all the sick children in the world. And when I'd say, 'Isn't that impossible?' Michael would just start to cry. He was very emotional about things that moved him. I guess you'd have to say he was a pure innocent in a world that wasn't so innocent anymore.".

Why do people ignore this?

Yeah but you say that people think u trying to diss him or something. I love MJ but they need to let him RIP after the VMA awards...NO MORE MJ.

every upcoming music award show will, as well as they should pay homage to mj, thats why i said jermaine need to let go of this big tribute concert.if the grammys or the amas wanna invite the jackson brothers to pay tribute to michael then i have no problem with that, i think mtv having janet do the tribute is very appropriate.

Michael was/is one of the biggest stars to ever live, so people who are expecting the coverage to die down completely are being unrealstic. He was a big deal whether you like it or not and he will continue to be in the news. He also has a lot of fans like myself who find it hard to make peace with his death & miss him and many of us have not tired of him.

Now if you're not interested in Michael and are tired of him, then just flip the channel or change the radio station. I mean it's really not that hard. I've been tired for YEARS of all the ass kissing The Beatles and Elvis Presley get and constantly having to hear about how great they were all the time, but I don't complain. I just don't pay attention to most things having to do with them. Some of you can do the same thing when it comes to Michael. Just ignore anything having to do with him. Ignore it already or quit complaining.

Making a thread complaining certainly isn't helping anything.

Yes, the grammy's, the ama's,etc. will all be paying tribute and that's the way it should be! They did the same for James Brown, I didn't hear anyone complaining about that but of course b/c it's Michael people want to complain. Fact of the matter is that Michael contributed a lot to pop culture and has been a household name since he was a kid. Michael MORE THAN DESERVES all the upcoming tributes he'll no doubt be getting at the upcoming music award shows. Don't like it? Well you're free to change the channel.

I don't mind the tributes as long as it's done real well. But I AM tired of the shitty tabloid stories that pop up every day.

I totally agree. I could never get into the Beatles and Elvis Presley but I do love John Lennons's Imagine

My thoughts are if Jermaine was considerate he would have considered London in the first place since the fans over there had tickets ....Vienna just didn't make since. Katherine should talk to her lawyer about her own kids venturing out on speaking engagements-concerts- anything regarding the name/image of Michael's name to be cleared first going forward. Brother or not the actions of some Jermaine-Latoya- Tito are getting out of control (interview wise). Business is Business Janet excluded shes gone the route of keeping quiet...doing one interview in addition to the upcoming VMA's.

it's john mcclain and the other guy that have to clear it i thought.

The lack of big names signing up for this had nothing to do with what anybody thinks of Michael and EVERYTHING to do with Jermaine not having the pulling power to rally together any A-listers.

Even the website looked unprofessional, with spelling mistakes... as if Jermaine had come up with it himself on his home computer. The site was full of pictures of Jermaine Jackson, his name was mentioned far more than Michael's (despite the fact that it was meant to be a tribute to Michael).

It was Jermaine's vanity project and nobody wanted anything to do with it - including Michael's estate.

as a Michael fan, I am going to politely ignore the "wacko" reference.
With that being said, Jermaine is nothing but a gold-digger who is looking to capitalize on his brother's untimely demise. There is a reason why Michael estranged himself from his siblings and his father. Jermaine even went as far to write a song dissing Michael back in the day, and NOW he wants to do a tribute? Give me a break, bruh! He needs to clean the vaseline that dripped from his hair into his ears and get on with his life.

i have been a bit skeptical about him as well. i want to believe he wouldn't do what i think he is doing (capitalizing from M.J.'s death) but i do get that vibe. and latoya especially should be ashamed of herself. why is latoya everywhere all of a sudden? it's pretty sick when you think about it. latoya is dispicable. as soon as MJ left us now she's out and about making apearences and even has jobs on tv now.
