Poor guy. Can you think of any competitive musical rivalries that have ever been as musically rewarding as the beatles/beach boys? off the top of my head I can only think Joni/Stevie in the early-mid 70's

i never really thought they were on each others coat tails..

they did have a direct influence on each other, but i don't really see them as rivals.


but anyway.... Stevie and Joni were musical rivals?

Subsequently, the Beatles have credited the album Pet Sounds with challenging them to release Revolver.

I think from there, the Beatles took off to something Brian Wilson could never quite keep up with, but Pet Sounds remains one of my favourite albums of all time, and it should be required issue for anyone that wants to have a music collection.
