I recently downloaded all the original STUDIO albums from Parliament (about 10 or 11), Sly & The Family Stone (about 9 or 10), Funkadelic (about 12) and The Beatles (about 10). I've been going through a lot of that stuff, little by little.

Oh, I also downloaded Rick James' studio albums. I love the Street Songs album.

I skipped any of the compilations from any of the above artists. I did get the two new songs from Sly's Greatest Hits, because they were "Thank You" and "Everybody Is A Star".

It amazed me that these huge artists who were prolific and set new trends and ideas and literally changed the landscape of music, made so few albums. I think it's an assumption that these guys all put out a shitload of albums yet really, even though 10 or 12 is no small biscuits, it's a lot less than what one would THINK. Like "Wow, the Beatles? SO much music." Yes well.....but really? 10 albums? I was just surprised that they were all low numbers. We just hear about these people for YEARS, and we assume that they have a LOT of albums. Funkadelic and The Beatles really piled the songs into an album, whereas Rick James or Parliament had 6-7 or 8 songs per albums. (Obviously so few because they were so LONG at times).

So that's still what I'm listening to lately.

I also didn't know Cat Stevens originally did "Peace Train". I LOVE Dolly Parton's version, and figured it was an older song. Just didn't know it was THAT old. I also downloaded Cat's song "I You Wanna Sing Out, Sing Out".
