Gimme Ur Favorite Madonna Song or Video...And Why!

Now, I know we've discussed Madonna here b4, but never restricted just 2 music or video. Despite her crazy life, her bad movies, her fashion revolution in the 80's, she's done some great songs and videos!

So, let's try this on 4 size...

I love her stuff. She's controversial, she's not afraid 2 take a chance. She's written most of her work and has a major say in what her videos look like.

I have 2 go back 2 the 80's 4 a song that I really loved the music and the video 4. It was "Papa Don't Preach". The music had this anti-abortion message that the church loved and the "Pro-Choice" people hated. I remember them carrying on about her and demonstrating at her concerts with signs that read, "Madonna Don't Preach"... 2 funny. The video was cool 2, Aidan Quinn as the love interest, Danny Aiello as her father...and then that choreography in that black tight outfit... mmm, mmm, mmm.

There's so many more, though.

Another music and video production that I like both of, was "Human Nature". Again, real bitchy attitude and great video with one of my favorite lines, "Im not your bitch, don't hang your shit on me." I guess I just like it when artists speak their minds and don't hide behind the fear of losing radio airplay.

My ultimate favorite song, though, has 2 be..."Take A Bow" from her "Bedtime Stories" cd. Written and per4med by Babyface & Madonna, it really hit me lyrically and artistically as 2 what she's capable of. I could hear it over and over. The video? Eh.

My ultimate favorite video? It's a tie: "Express Yourself" & "La Isla Bonita". The 1st one, 4 the industrial look she gave it, while still very much being sexy and hot. Crawling on the floor in chains (pissing off a lot of feminists) and that silhouette shot! Mmmm. The 2nd, 4 the latin theme, the dark hair she wears, her dancing and the color involved. The latino in me really gets in2 it, and I looove Madonna in dark hair. Very uplifting.

Anyway... I was hoping this thread could stay on the topic of just her music and videos. I know her life, kids, movies, sexual orientation, political views etc, etc...have been discussed here b4. 4 that reason alone, I'll most likely get some flamers on this thread...but hey, let's try and keep this on the music and videos?

Anyone?

"Human Nature", hands down. Love the lyrics and the beat. "And I'm not sorry..."

Not a big fan, but also like "Waiting", "Fever" (crazy video) and "Erotica"

I love pretty much everything she does but to me the pinnacle of emotion and honesty from her has to be "Drowned World/Substitute for Love". I get chills everytime I hear it. It's the first track from my favorite album of hers. And it's the first song by her that I learned how to play. And it was the show opener for possibly the best concert I've seen (I'm on the dvd!)

Favorite song: Burning Up. I know it's not as meaningful and testimonial as many of her songs, but I adore the style.

Favorite video: Oh Father. This is my second favorite Madonna song. It epitomizes the characteristics of a haunting song and video. It's classy and defiant.

Justify My Love was very very stylish in music and video. Even tho' the music was stolen from Public Enemy, the lyrics alone and the way she was speaking and Lenny's backdrop was perfekt

Album plays and love for vinyl records.

My favorite video(s)- a toss-up between "Justify My Love" and "Like A Prayer". The epitome of art meets statement. Videos don't get better than this. They didn't get banned for nothing!

For Madonna songs that truly affected me, "Oh Father" has to be my fave both for song and video. Long story short, my dad sucks and this song came out 1 month before the world around our family and him came crashing down. The first time I saw the video i cried for hours. The song still haunts me and truly speaks to my relationship with my father and helped me through one of the most difficult situations in my life, ever.

For fun stuff...

Video- "Express Yourself" the men are hot and so is Madonna, the images and colors are amazing and memorable. This video is one of the only times a woman has ever gotten me hot and bothered. wink

Song- "Impressive Instant" Corny lyrics, thumping beat, and the moment her tour kicked into high gear. I love dancing to this song and would kill for the crazy remixes I've heard of it in the clubs.

heart Madonna heart

"Borderline" speaks of the kind of Artist She was&Is.I don't like much of Her 90's till Now Stuff but She still does Her thing&I tip My Cap to Her for that.Video "Like a Prayer" just for the Cross&Kiss that Pissed many Red-Necks off&Pepsi.that was Much Sac on Madonna's Part IMHO.

Favorite video is Take a Bow, because it's probably her sexiest! She looks freakin hot in that video. Probably up there with my favorite Madonna songs too.

My favorite video would have to be Express Yourself. I thought I was being so bad when I watched it when I was younger b/c it was so sexy. As for songs, Like a Prayer and Secret.

'Borderline' is my favorite song and I think video also. smile

I also like 'Like a Virgin', 'Material girl, 'Live to tell', 'La isla bonita', and 'Like a Prayer'.

'Take a bow' is also a beautiful song and video from the new.

From the most recent songs, I really liked 'Ray of light' and 'Music'.

Why? Because they're just cool songs. The first songs remind me of the 80's when I was becoming a teenager, and they're just songs you don't get over, and the new ones just have that futuristic rhythm and vibe that I enjoy listening to.

Peace!

Favorite song: "Bad Girl"(1992)---I love this song! Madonna really sounds hurt and heartbroken. The lyrics are emotionally deep ("What happens now,I know I don't deserve you/I wonder how I'm ever gonna hurt you/Can't bring myself to let you go"),painting a vivid picture of a woman who just can't let go of her man, even though she has hurt him over and over. The dramatic music adds to the tension.

Favorite video: "Like A Prayer"(1989)---I went CRAZY when I first saw this video!!! It was so scandalous,so controversial,so freakin' BRILLIANT!! It has a strong storyline, intriguing images, and scenes of Madonna dancing in a church with a Black choir. And doesn't Madonna look sexy with dark hair? smile

At least 4 radio stations in the U.S. are playing a "new" Madonna song called "Revenge",insisting that this is the first single from her upcoming CD.They are WRONG! This song is a 1997 outtake from the 'Ray Of Light' sessions. Here are the stations that are playing this song...

WQSX-Boston
WPYM-Miami
WBLI-Nassau-Suffolk
KXMG-Austin

If you live in these areas, you may wanna call these stations and let them know they're making a huge mistake:)

Then again,I guess ANY airplay is good, even if the DJs are badly misinformed...lol...

The best video in her "earlier" days would have had to of been Borderline. But as she got older her videos got better.. All time favorite video is Bad Girl and Rain. I love them both, and Rain has to be one of the best songs by her!

like a prayer. the melody is very catchy and the gospel choir bit at the end, original.

the video itself is gorgeous & atmospheric. i love her dark hair.

i remember something camille paglia said about the burning crosses... it had shocked and amazed her the way she appropriated an image normally associated w/ the KKK - strictly for her own creative purposes.

My favorite's gotta be Bedtime Story. That video is so cool and weird. And the song was co-written by Bjork, so that makes it better in my eyes.
