Madonna is in, so therefore that opens a door ever so slightly for Janet Jackson.
IMHO there are a lot more deserving artists than either of these two acts of being in the R&RHOF.

no she doesn't deserve to go in until Control is 25 years old. that even when she dates the start of her career if you go by 20YO

"20 YO" symbolized 20 years of success, not her singing career. She acknowledges her first albums, as she performed songs from them on tour last year. Her first album, Janet Jackson, was released in 1982, therefore she has been eligible for two years. It doesn't matter that Control was her first successful album. Her first album was released over 25 years ago. BTW, when I said "yesterday," I was using slang meaning she should have been in there.

i know what you meant when you said yesterday. when i get mad at my Sisters for not doing something i wanted done i say i wanted it done yesterday, but thanks for thinking i was unaware of such an idiom

i love me some janet, but had she called it quits before control she just would have been another one of the jackson siblings. in that regards Jackie, Marlon, Randy, and Rebbie should go in. I think holding it off til the 25th anniversary of Control is the best thing for her so they can really say she got in on her own merits.

Janet's self-titled debut album (THE real music career debut BTW) was release in 1983. Janet Jackson AND Dreamstreet were BEFORE Control. wink

The best post in the thread, and thats what I meant in previous posts.

Times have changed dramaticly, giving things to people who really don't deserve it.
