you never act like a grown up on here. You come in every thread trying to ruin it and bash/talk down to everyone. Your childish bickering to try to prove that you are always right is quite tiring. You should be banned permanently but I highly doubt that will happen. So do us all a favor, retire your account. We all know you won't change and will be more than happy for you to leave the forum forever. For someone who is in their 40s, your behavior is quite immature. Grow up. YOU are calling someone immature? Err, Mr Pot may I introduce you to Ms Kettle? As for the "bashing" you need to take a look at this thread and ask yourself who started the bashing. It was you. I insulted no one. It was you and your colleague who posted meaningless insults for no good reason on a thread that was otherwise completely civil. And lastly, where the hell did you get the idea I was in my 40s? Are the drugs in your fantasy land really that strong?. Have you guys noticed that when Thriller is mentioned, they only mention the sales and not about the album itself? The production on the album is often mentioned. Smashing Pumpkins - Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness....pretentious whiny-nerdness.
The Beatles - Sgt Peppers....not monumental, bit boring, A Day in the Life ain't no great shakes either. Beach Boys - Pet Sounds....has like, one good -very good- song. 2Pac - All Eyez On Me....Me Against The World is 100x better. How annoying is that shitty remix of California Love. Woulda been class if skimmed to a single disc, Dr.Dre - The Chronic....pop-rap, ain't all that. Eric B & Rakim - Paid in Full....apart from the title track. Arctic Monkeys - Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I Am Not.....garbage! Nine Inch Nail - The Downward Spiral....painful! .....speaking objectively of course

And which song would that be? "Wouldn't It Be Nice"? "God Only Knows"? "Caroline No"? "That's Not Me"? "Sloop John B"? "I Just Wasn't Made for These Times"? Eric B & Rakim - Paid in Full....apart from the title track.
.....speaking objectively of course

Thanks for the laugh! that song would be God Only Knows, the rest, whilst nicely arranged with the vocal harmonies an all is just whitebread, bland, inoffensive mush. I stand resolute that Paid In Full isn't as great as what came after, ergo, it's dated some and is "overrated". We're not taking influence into account here son.

ah yes, another comes to mind....
Massive Attack - Mezzanine....blown outta proportion this one, the critical praise went way over the top with the wankdogs salivating over their keyboards. Blue Lines and Protection were better imo, but this brought more of an atmostphere of dark imagery that's made it a standard of its genre(prog-triphop?). Anyway, I find it to be too generic with its cloddyness, and Robert Del Naja sounds too much like the rapper from East17. Goldie - Timeless....too long to be a classic.

It's never been seen as the classic that, say, It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back is. Every track on the album isn't a stone cold classic, but enough of them are, son. "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis

The only song I ever really liked on Pet Sounds was "Sloop John B" and that's not even their song. There's no doubt it's brilliantly produced, but like a lot of iconic albums from that time I've always felt people were praising the idea of it more than anything else. I don't think it can hold a candle to Lovesexy (another ambitious record that actually has some balls and doesn't get a fraction of the praise). “The man who never looks into a newspaper is better informed than he who reads them, inasmuch as he who knows nothing is nearer to truth than he whose mind is filled with falsehoods and errors.”

Can't be bothered to read all through this thread, but I wonder if anyones mentioned BloodSugarSexMagic by the Chilli Peppers? good singles but way more filler. The Robert Johnson cover is kinda embarrassing to listen to. In fact, they're pretty overrated most of the time are the chillis.

The Joshua Tree.
"Nevermind [DGC, 1991] After years of hair-flailing sludge that achieved occasional songform on singles no normal person ever heard, Seattle finally produces some proper postpunk, aptly described by resident genius Kurt Cobain: "Verse, chorus, verse, chorus, solo, bad solo." This is hard rock as the term was understood before metal moved in--the kind of loud, slovenly, tuneful music you think no one will ever work a change on again until the next time it happens, whereupon you wonder why there isn't loads more. It seems so simple. A" Robert Christgau. All you others say Hell Yea!!

[Edited 9/10/09 14:21pm] Ok, I was going to say Thriller too but thought I would get my head bit off. Off the Wall is superior to Thriller IMO, but Thriller defines the 80s and my h.s. years.
