I think Whit sped up the deterioration with her lifestyle but judging by her mother's progression I think it woulda been inevitable. I noticed early in the 90s that her voice was gradually changing. edit: changed over to almost 30 years I was in a time warp [Edited 9/12/09 20:26pm] I think Luther stopped using Cissy so much in the 90s because her voice had changed so much. Before then, she was on almost all of his recordings. I didn't realize he used her that long. They musta been unplugging her mike or mix her all the way down.

So I went over to youtube and skimmed through all them. After skimming through about three times, missing the part I was looking for, I finally found where it was mentioned but it was only for a split second and I couldn't hear any booing or see any of the audience members booing. That's what I want to see. And she didn't even ask Shitney about the incident. But while I was skimming through, they were playing clips of all those horrible songs which brought back horrible memories. Now I'm depressed. . . . But anytime I've heard her alone live she sounds simply horrible. But what really fucked me up about her discography is that I see Dangerously in Love on there Please, say it ain't so.

Harlepolis said: SCNDLS said: It was really evident with her live shows. She could still sound good in the studio with editing and other alterations. But anytime she sang live in the 90s she couldn't hit notes and often sounded flat and out of tune. When she did Shoop Shoop she didn't sound like herself IMO and that's the first time I noticed her voice sounding different on a recording. At that point it can't really be blamed on her lifestyle since she was young and hadn't been doing whatever she was doing for decades which is what we're hearing the results of now. When she did that sweaty, humid, sticky, greasy, all-around calamity "Why Does It Hurt So Bad" per4mance from MTV back in 95/96, I def knew there was something wrong. And when "Heartbreak Hotel" came, I didn't believe it was Whitney at 1st listen,,,,,she took a radical switch from soft to raspy. Jay Leno said the same thing to her back in 98, and she copped an attitude,,,,I guess she was in denial about her voice. I remember award show after award show in the 90's something was so off w/ her. Her vocals were bad, she had that persistent upper lip/whole face sweat, she just wasn't right. She confirmed that she started using "light" before The Bodyguard, & heavy thereafter. Whitney's been fucking up her voice for a long time, even her speaking voice sounds like Old Man Gristle She's done , [Edited 9/15/09 3:35am]

Yeah, when I heard that my automatic thinking was that must of been one of the times she cracked him over the head. If not that, I would have went inside packed my bags and left that night. Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

Haters...SMH I saw the Houston/Oprah interview this morining, well done. There is a fine line between picking at someones wounds for the sake of entertainment verses allowing them to tell their side of the story. As far as the comments on U-Tube, I'm going to assume these are mostly "kids" who've yet been knocked to their knees by circumstances of their own making or things beyond their control. Wasn't I'm Your Baby Tonight a "departure" of sorts for Whitney from the poppish feel of her first two albums? I know its MY favorite album of hers and i'd say its her blackest album yet in that it feels like a true R & B album. LA & Babyface hooked her up
