I know for sure Stevie Ain't playing the flute Anyway Thisa is certainly a great song, but tbh I can't even say I find this the best song of his classic era. Picking out his BEST song from this era is like putting 30 crisp ones on the table and trying to pick which one you like the best. It's just impossible. I've narrowed down what I consider his two best 60's songs(or my favorites at least) "I was made to love her" & "Joy" And I consider Either That Girl or Master Blaster his best 80's song. But that 70's classic stuff...I don't even bother. Did Prince ever deny he had sex with his sister? I believe not. So there U have it..

indeed , i persuaded 2 friends on that album. something for everyone to have It's to me very sad how IMO stevie wonder is now overlooked in american society. Sure old boomers like him, but when the 30 year old and 20 year old music critics & fans get nostalgic, his name(along with Joni, Zappa, or Sly) never comes up. It's always Hendrix this, Beatles that, Bob Dylan is God & Prince is a Goddess. Occassionally, when someone whips out a artist/group from the 70's, you're more likely to hear about Marvin or Led Zeppelin than the Wonder Man or Funkadelic. I mean wtf? Well yeah, he first credit is in the late 80s and then on whitney's album "i'm your baby tonight" she does backing vocals on whitney's duet with stevie "we didn't know". Then after that she's on the "jungle fever" soundtrack singing"if she breaks your heart"

"Another Star" was the fourth and final single from SITKOL,but really, with an album like this, how do you even pick the singles? Nearly every song could have been a single.

I like this song, and its on more of his better songs in his catalog, BUT I felt with this song, shows how much he changed from his other four albums; there's a lot going on, and credit to Stevie from keeping it pretty cohesive, but his work stood out to me more with his "less is more" tracks, and the reverb is IMO too much, especially for a gorgeous voice like Stevie. He could have stuck with bass, drums, piano, guitar, backing vocals and the flute, and maybe added all the extra percussion to the jam.
That being said, I love this song, really shows off his flexible voice, cool breakdown, and the melody is just that good, it could keep going on forever At this point in history, we have a choice to make

Anyway, I agree with you about stevie's 70's songs. It's hard to find 'not-great' songs. pure genius.

Yeah, "Ordinary Pain" doesn't have a flute. Mostly synths and whatever other instruments are credited.
Another Star has the flute solo in the middle that's definitely another artist. I used to know who it was. I know Hubert Laws did the flute on "My Love Is On Fire" on A Time To Love, but I don't know if it was him on this album. I need to go back to my liners soon.
