Can you think of any competitive musical rivalries that have ever been as musically rewarding as the beatles/beach boys? off the top of my head I can only think Joni/Stevie in the early-mid 70's [Edited 9/13/09 0:58am] Did Prince ever deny he had sex with his sister? but anyway.... Stevie and Joni were musical rivals? Well stevie once said in an interview that joni's music inspired him to do better back then. I can't accurately remember where i read it but I'll try and search for it. Did Prince ever deny he had sex with his sister? I believe not. So there U have it..

but anyway.... Stevie and Joni were musical rivals? Wilson cited in the liner notes of a reissue of Pet Sounds, that the release of Rubber Soul provoked him to create that masterpiece.... Subsequently, the Beatles have credited the album Pet Sounds with challenging them to release Revolver. I think from there, the Beatles took off to something Brian Wilson could never quite keep up with, but Pet Sounds remains one of my favourite albums of all time, and it should be required issue for anyone that wants to have a music collection.
